Zach Cregger’s Resident Evil reboot is going to bring something new for longtime fans of the video game franchise. The director behind 2025’s Weapons is one of Hollywood’s hottest commodities, with several upcoming projects on the way, but his take on the zombie series is next on his schedule. Hitting theaters later this year, don’t expect the upcoming film to directly connect to past Resident Evil installments.
In an interview with Deadline, Constantin Film CEO Oliver Berben talked about Resident Evil, which is currently in post-production. He confirmed that Cregger’s take on the iconic zombie property is a “complete new set up” for the franchise. Bernen did not divulge any plot details, but teased that it would be “far away from everything that is connected to Resident Evil, only because Zach Cregger has his own style.”
More to come.
