Wolverine’s X-Cutioner Armor Puts Him On Iron Man’s Level

Wolverine’s X-Cutioner Armor Puts Him On Iron Man’s Level

An armored Wolverine isn’t a common sight in the Marvel universe, but Logan finds himself forced to follow in Iron Man’s footsteps thanks to Apocalypse. While both anti-heroes are virtually immortal, Wolverine and Deadpool lose their free will to the Legacy virus in 2025’s Deadpool / Wolverine. Wolverine, in particular, gets a rawer deal.

Posing as Stryfe, Apocalypse commands his brainwashed X-Cutioners, Wolverine and Deadpool. Logan and Wade Wilson manage to shake off their Legacy brainwashing. Yet, Wolverine goes through a visibly painful transformation that results in a Hulk-like monster.

Wolverine’s transformation is short-lived, and it leads to a long-deserved upgrade for the mutant hero.

Fortunately for everyone involved, Deadpool and Maverick manage to revert Wolverine’s Hulk-like transformation. Although Wolverine doesn’t need any enhancement to leap back into the battle thanks to his healing factor, Deadpool urges Logan to put on some clothes. Wolverine takes this as an opportunity to wear an X-Cutioner suit of armor, which adds Iron Man-like repulsors to his combat repertoire.

Wolverine isn’t one to use high-tech gear, additional weapons, or costumes with special abilities. Logan is a brawler by nature, and he usually relies either on his fists or his claws to defeat his enemies. This is why most of Wolverine’s most famous outfits are so casual: a leather jacket, a tank top, or a variety of X-Men uniforms. This time, however, Apocalypse’s massive attack forces Wolverine to engage the X-Cutioner’s repulsors to escape.

More Marvel Heroes Should Be Wearing Suits Of Amor

High-Tech Armor Is Oddly Rare In The Marvel Universe

Tech-On Avengers

Iron Man has proven time and again that advanced suits can make a single hero as formidable as an army, which raises the question: why isn’t Tony Stark equipping more heroes with similar gear? If Iron Man chooses not to do it, then Reed Richards, Black Panther, or organizations like S.W.O.R.D. should be ensuring heroes have access to this tech.

Many Marvel heroes could benefit from armor or tailored enhancements, even if they don’t strictly need it. Spider-Man occasionally uses advanced suits, but consistent Stark-level integration could push his abilities even further. Even Thor and Captain Marvel, powerful as they are, could use adaptive tech that optimizes their power output and shields them in overwhelming situations.

The main reason why high-tech enhancements aren’t common in the Marvel universe is that it would strip most characters from their individuality. Part of what makes Marvel heroes so appealing is their unique powers, costumes, and mythology. If every hero wore Iron Man-inspired gear, it would reduce them to Iron Man copycats. When an unrelated character like Wolverine wears his own suit of armor, it’s a special event.
