The Bridgerton cast and showrunner have opened up about why Sophie Baek’s father calls her a “ward” in the new season of the hit historical romance series on Netflix.
During an interview with Netflix, Yerin Ha explained that Sophie is an illegitimate child since her father was Lord Penwood and her mother was a maid. Her father calls her a ward as a way to mask the truth about her parentage. It would be a horrifying scandal if the truth came out that she is actually a bastard.
