‘White Lotus’ Star Meghann Fahy Would Return in a “Heartbeat”

‘White Lotus’ Star Meghann Fahy Would Return in a “Heartbeat”

Fans and critics are still lighting up the internet about the somewhat controversial Season 3 finale of The White Lotus. Creator Mike White certainly distinguished the conclusion of his latest installment by killing off a number of lead characters, in comparison to past seasons where just one would meet their demise at the thrilling end. But of course, each season introduces a wide variety of players who live on — including the standout Daphne, played to perfection by Meghann Fahy in Season 2. MovieWeb recently caught up with Fahy at the Los Angeles junket for her new Blumhouse film Drop, where the lead actress also took time to weigh in on her famed HBO series.

Fahy revealed that she’s watched the latest Thailand-set season, with fans now speculating about where the next season will take place — and which characters (who are still alive) might return. Would Fahy welcome the opportunity to come back? “Oh my god, of course! That was an unbelievable experience,” she told us. “I would in a heartbeat.”

In the meantime, catch Fahy leading the charge with a top-notch performance in the Christopher Landon film, Drop, a title which partly alludes to that fancy feature of your modern smartphones that allows users to swiftly send photos and messages to others in the vicinity. Ever tried using AirDrop? Sometimes it’s easier said than done, but modern tech becomes the basis of a terrifying date-night ordeal that sees Fahy’s character go through the ringer in trying to keep her family safe. “It’s definitely not a part of my everyday life, but it wasn’t that daunting,” said Fahy in thinking about the “drop” aspect of the storyline, adding:

I think that was part of what I loved about the script because I read it, and obviously, that’s such a huge component of it, is the tech component. But it didn’t feel like that when I read it. It just felt like a classic thriller that could have been made, you know, decades ago.

It might be even better than ‘The White Lotus,’ and it stars a wonderful real-life mother-daughter duo.

Meghann Fahy Plays a “Reverse Damsel-in-Distress” in ‘Drop’

Even after playing the complicated character of Daphne in The White Lotus, Drop‘s Violet might be Fahy’s most complex character to date. She is a single mom, still recovering from a traumatic past involving her deceased husband when we first meet Violet, and now she’s ready to get back out there for a first date with a charming but doomed lad named Henry (It Ends With Us star Brandon Sklenar).

“I kind of just loved this idea that [director] Chris [and I] spoke about, was just that it was like the reverse damsel-in-distress story,” Fahy told us. “Like, Henry is kind of the damsel, but he doesn’t even know it. [Violet] kind of gets to be the hero, and I thought that was really exciting. And then, you know, all of the action bits, too. I was really excited about that because I had never done anything like that.” You can see Fahy in action now. From Universal Pictures, Drop will be released in theaters on April 11, 2025.
