Which Cynthia Erivo Character Is The Killer?

Which Cynthia Erivo Character Is The Killer?

WARNING: SPOILERS ahead for Poker Face season 2, episode 1.

The first episode of Poker Face season 2, “The Game is a Foot,” features several new characters, primarily Cynthia Erivo in multiple roles, in addition to Natasha Lyonne’s signature lie-detecting protagonist, Charlie Cale. Throughout the premiere episode of Poker Face season 2, which was part of a three-episode release on May 8th, 2025, exclusively on Peacock, Cynthia Erivo’s primary character, Amber Kazinsky, disguises herself as a handful of her sisters. Amber is a quintuplet, one of five identical children, who has taken care of her sick mother, Norma, even though Norma considers her the biggest failure of her kids.

Amber discovers that Norma plans to give her entire inheritance to a mysterious woman named Felicity Price, who turns out to be a one-legged artist and long-lost identical sister of Amber and the others. After Amber meets Felicity, she speeds up Norma’s death and also kills Felicity, planning to pose as her to accept Norma’s inheritance. The catch, however, is that Felicity only had one leg and wore a prosthetic, which eventually foils Amber’s plan. Before Charlie got involved through Amber’s sister Delia, Amber had staged Felicity’s death as her own, placing her body on some train tracks at the bottom of a cliff to make it seem like “Amber’s” leg had been run over and severed.

Poker Face Season 2 Review: Rian Johnson Has Cleverly Mastered His Addictive & Old School Murder-Of-The-Week Series

Perhaps the greatest achievement of Poker Face season 2 is that, despite its obvious and steadfast algorithmic structure, there’s never a dull moment.

Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale: Lyonne is the free-spirited, truth-telling protagonist of each Poker Face episode. She has an uncanny ability to detect “BS”, which often gets her into sticky situations. Lyonne is best known for her roles in Russian Doll and Orange is the New Black, both of which earned her Emmy nominations. She also recently appeared in the critically acclaimed film His Three Daughters and played Jessica in the 1999 classic comedy American Pie.

Cynthia Erivo as Amber / Delia / Cece / Bebe Kazinsky / Felicity Price: Erivo is best known for her Oscar-nominated performances in Harriet (2019) and Wicked (2024). She will reprise her role as Elphaba in the upcoming sequel Wicked: For Good.

Jasmine Guy as Norma Kazinsky: Jasmine Guy plays Amber’s dying mother, Norma, in Poker Face season 2, episode 1. The Boston-based actress is best known for her roles in Harlem Nights, Harlem, and The Vampire Diaries.

Jin Ha as Paul Fletcher: While Charlie can’t help but spot a lie, Jin Ha’s attorney character, Paul Fletcher, can’t help but tell the truth. He initially (and illegally) reveals Norma’s plan to give her inheritance to Felicity Price at the start of the episode. Jin Ha is best known for his roles in Only Murders in the Building, Pachinko, and Civil War.

Who Killed Felicity In Poker Face Season 2 Episode 1

Amber Kills Felicity By Throwing Her Off A Remote Cliff

Felicity is murdered by her long-lost sister, Amber, in Poker Face season 2, episode 1. When Amber first arrives to meet Felicity in Vermont, she discovers that Felicity had never known she had a sister, let alone four identical ones. Unfortunately, Felicity, who is a mixed-media artist living an isolated life in rural Vermont, doesn’t have much time left after Amber finds her. Soon after Norma passes away, Amber invites Felicity to her estate.

Amber cuts to the chase and attacks Felicity before tossing her off the cliff to her death.

Felicity meets Amber at Norma’s mansion a week later. Amber is dressed exactly like she was during their first encounter a week before at the edge of Norma’s estate by a steep cliff. Felicity tells Amber she got an email about Norma’s inheritance from the lawyer, Paul, before realizing that Amber has completely copied her look, which instantly freaks her out. Amber cuts to the chase and attacks Felicity before tossing her off the cliff to her death.

Amber then makes a video announcing her fake suicide to her sisters, attempting to make Felicity’s death look like her own. This way, she can pose as Felicity and claim Norma’s inheritance entirely to herself, which she believes she deserves after her years and overlooked loyalty and servitude.

Why Amber Took Felicity’s Identity In Poker Face

Norma Left Her Entire Fortune To Felicity

Cynthia Erivo in Poker Face season 2

Amber planned to take Felicity’s identity so that she could pose as her and inherit Norma’s estate and fortune. She did this because Norma, rather cruelly, cut her four known daughters out of her will and strangely left everything to Felicity, whom she didn’t have a relationship with but apparently respected because of her art. Without Norma’s house and money, Amber didn’t seem to have much to live for. She claims to be an artist but doesn’t have much of a career.

Amber assumes Felicity’s identity because, as she says to her before killing her, she has everything she wants and is exactly the type of person she wants to be. This, combined with the plan to inherit all of Norma’s possessions, was the main motivation for Amber to take Felicity’s identity. For Amber, it’s fun to live out the life of a person she wishes she were. Much like Andrew Scott’s sinister con artist character in Netflix’s Ripley, Amber commits murder and identity fraud to steal her desired life.

How Charlie Figured Out Felicity’s Murder

She Proves Amber’s Prosthetic Leg Was A Fake

A closeup of Natasha Lyonne as Charlie Cale in Poker Face season 2

Charlie enters the picture in Poker Face season 2, episode 1, through Delia, the low-key and logical sister of Amber. Charlie befriends Delia at an apple orchard where they both work. Delia tells Charlie that she and her three sisters were the stars of an old TV show called Kid Cop Nights, which blows Charlie’s mind. After discovering that Norma had been an abusive mother who took every scene of her daughters’ TV money, Charlie drives Delia to Norma’s house for the funeral, where she meets the other sisters, Bebe and Cece, and learns “Amber” has died.

Amber smartly fakes having a prosthetic leg until Charlie drops a sharp trophy the sisters had earned from their child acting days on Amber’s foot, which starts gushing blood.

Using her foolproof lie-detecting skills, Charlie discovers that “Felicity” is lying about who she is and wants to know why. She looks at Felicity’s art magazine and realizes that all of her pieces are focused on a foot, which connects to the fact that the real Felicity lost her leg in a car accident with her gambling addict father years before. Charlie calls out Amber, disguised as Felicity, for being an impostor and tells her to prove that she only has one leg.

Amber smartly fakes having a prosthetic leg until Charlie drops a sharp trophy the sisters had earned from their child acting days on Amber’s foot, which starts gushing blood. This reveals Amber’s true identity at the end of Poker Face season 2, episode 1, even though the cops arrive seconds later to confirm that “Amber’s” dead body wasn’t hers.
