Following a three-year hiatus, Luffy D. Monkey and the Straw Hats have finally charted a return to Netflix for Season 2 of One Piece. Called Into the Grand Line, the next chapter in the hit live-action adaptation of the manga series is sailing faster to the streaming service than most fans may realize, setting a whole new course for the pirates to embark on this time around.
Debuting to high viewership and critical acclaim in August 2023, One Piece‘s popularity likely derived in part from its bingeworthy episodic drop. All eight episodes in Season 1 were released at once. So, when the beloved show returns in March 2026, can fans once again consume everything Sanji is cooking up for the crew in a single weekend?
‘One Piece’ Sets Sail for a New Mission in Season 2
Based on the massively popular manga series, One Piece lived up to nearly impossible expectations when it arrived on Netflix in August 2023. The live-action adaptation follows Luffy D. Monkey (Iñaki Godoy) and his fellow Straw Hat Pirates as they sail the high seas in search of the titular treasure left behind by Pirate King, Gold Roger (Michael Dorman). Along with his colorful crew members, Luffy possesses a special superpower derived from eating Devil Fruit.
Following eight episodes of riveting action, One Piece has set course for a new mission in Season 2. The title The Grand Line refers to an imperiled stretch of ocean that the Straw Hat Pirates will traverse in the next slate of episodes. The characters will make key stops in iconic locations from the manga as Drum Island, Little Garden, Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whiskey Peak, and more. According to Netflix.com/Tudum, Season 2 will cover roughly 60 manga chapters, bringing viewers up to speed with Chapter 154 or so.
Aside from new seafaring adventures, One Piece Season 2 will also introduce several new characters from the manga who were previously absent. They include fan-favorite Straw Hat member Tony Tony Chopper (Mikaela Hoover), Baroque Works employees Mr. 3 (David Dastmalchian), Crocodile (Joe Manganiello), and Nico Robin, aka Miss All-Sunday (Lera Abova). Drum Island’s Dr. Kureha (Katey Sagal) and Dr. Hiriluk (Mark Harelik) also join the action, among others.
When Will ‘One Piece’ Season 2 Be Available on Netflix?
One Piece Season 1 premiered on August 31, 2023, and all eight episodes dropped on Netflix at once. An ideal late summer binge-watch, the show became so popular that it was renewed for a second season two weeks after its release. In August 2025, the show was renewed for a third season, months before the premiere of Season 2.
Although it will be interesting to see if One Piece remains as popular when Season 2 airs in late winter rather than late summer, at least viewers can take solace in knowing that Netflix is following a similar release schedule as Season 1. Indeed, when Season 2 premieres on Netflix, all eight episodes will again be available on the same day.
So, without further ado, that day will be Tuesday, March 10, 2026. Netflix will release all eight episodes of One Piece Season 2 on March 10th, with Matt Owens and Ian Stokes writing the first episode, “The Beginning and the End.” The opening episode is directed by series alum Emma Sullivan, who helmed episodes 3 and 4 in Season 1 and will also direct Season 2, Episode 2, “Good Whale Hunting.” So, whether fans watch it all right away or wait for the weekend to binge-watch, it’s going to be an adventure.
