Weston McKennie’s latest impactful showing for Juventus saw the American midfielder set up a vital equalizer at the Stadio Olimpico on Sunday night.
McKennie helped Juventus earn a 3-3 draw against AS Roma on Sunday, keeping them in the top-four race in Serie A play. The U.S. men’s national team midfielder logged a positive 90 minutes as his busy season continued for Luciano Spalletti’s side.
AS Roma struck first through Wesley’s 39th minute opener but Chico Conceicao tied things up for Juventus two minutes into the second half.
Juventus fell down again though as Evan N’Dicka and Donyell Malen both scored 11 minutes apart to give Roma a 3-1 lead after the hour mark. However, the visitors would rally to earn a share of the spoils from their trip to Rome.
Jeremie Boga cut the deficit in half with 12 minutes to play before McKennie teed up Federico Gatti for a 3-3 equalizer. McKennie’s flick-on header from a set piece in the 93rd minute fell to Gatti, who finished off the loose ball with a confident finish.
Although Juventus has not won a Serie A match since February 1, a two-goal rally as Roma should do wonders for their confidence going forward.
Up next for the Turin-based club is a home date with Pisa on March 7 before they travel to Udinese on March 14.
