Based on the titular bestselling book by E. Lockhart, the show tells the story of a teen girl who tries to uncover her memories of the last summer after having a traumatic brain injury. Prime Video’s We Were Liars needed to get many things right from the book, and the show does a good job of living up to the high expectations.

We Were Liars is a perfect summer binge, and a large part of that comes from the impressive cast performances. The Sinclair family is a messy, dysfunctional group who can barely stand one another most of the time despite loving each other. Despite this, “the liars” are best friends who have each other’s backs. Every actor makes their character memorable and helps shape the larger dynamics on Beechwood Island.
