Vlahovic – Rodgers – Odegaard feature in Chelsea transfer news

Here is a roundup of the top Chelsea news, gossip and transfer latest from icfootballnews featuring the likes of Martin Odegaard, Dusan Vlahovic and Morgan Rodgers that you guys could have missed…

There has been some fresh reports in the media which have again claimed that Chelsea want to sign Aston Villa midfielder Morgan Rodgers when the summer transfer window opens up in just a few months time.

Right now, all the talk at CHELSEA is about whether or not the Blues will be able to push on and get back into the Champions League places under Liam Rosenior, after former Boss Enzo Maresca had such a bad start to the Premier League season.

But that has not stopped the transfer speculation about players that could be coming into the club, as there are still a few areas of the pitch that the Blues board would like to improve over the next few weeks of the transfer window.

What is the latest regarding Morgan Rodgers?

According to Teamtalk, Chelsea have set their sights on potential transfer deals for two of England’s top young talents in the form of Aston Villa’s Morgan Rogers and Arsenal’s Ethan Nwaneri.

Rogers has long been high up on Chelsea’s watch list, but Chelsea have been unable to get a deal done for the Villa star as they do not want to meet that £80 million asking price on his head.

What has been said about Rodgers going to Chelsea

Former Premier League star Emile Heskey recently opened up and claimed that Morgan Rodgers would be a fantastic signing for CHELSEA, amid talk they are looking to raid Aston Villa for the midfielder.

Heskey said: ‘It would be interesting as it’s another Manchester City player who might make their way to Chelsea, but I think he should spend another year at Villa, at least.

‘He’s going well, the club are on the up, and they could break into that top four this season. That’s a really big challenge and a good one for him, too.

‘I think if he did go to CHELSEA, he could be fantastic, but for Chelsea it might be overkill, buying players for the sake of it.”

Will Rodgers be open to a move to Chelsea?

Rodgers is brilliant on the ball and so tough to take it from him, he is a great player for Aston Villa and they will not want to lose a player that is so dangerous against pretty much any defence.

Villa do have some financial issues, but they will not want to start letting their best players go, otherwise it will be a step back from all the hard work from the past few seasons.

And to be honest, Rodgers is very happy at Villa right now and will not want to leave the club.

COULD ODEGAARD JOIN CHELSEA?

Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard has been urged to leave the club this summer as he is no longer an ‘influential’ player for boss Mikel Arteta, who now prefers to play Eberechi Eze, but could CHELSEA make a move for the midfielder?

Reports circulating in London suggest that, should Arsenal open the door to a departure, several top-flight sides would monitor the situation closely. While there is no indication yet of formal interest, the prospect of a marquee midfielder becoming available has inevitably sparked speculation.

For now, sources close to Arsenal maintain that Ødegaard remains central to the club’s long-term project. The Norwegian has repeatedly stated his happiness in North London, and his leadership role—both on and off the pitch—has been fundamental to Mikel Arteta’s rebuild. ARSENAL’s hierarchy view him as non-transferable unless extraordinary circumstances arise.

But that hasn’t stopped CHELSEA from monitoring the situation. Under their current ownership, Chelsea have consistently targeted technically gifted, high-work-rate midfield profiles who can slot into a possession-dominant system. Ødegaard, at the peak of his creative influence and approaching what many see as his prime years, fits that model perfectly.

Would Odegaard actually make the move to Chelsea?

Several barriers make the transfer improbable. First is the rivalry. Direct transfers between Arsenal and Chelsea have occurred before, but rarely involving a captain or a player seen as symbolic of a long-term project.

The political weight of such a deal would be enormous, and Arsenal would likely impose a prohibitive asking price. Chelsea’s past willingness to pay premium fees may not be enough when the selling club does not intend to sell at all.

Secondly, Ødegaard’s current role at Arsenal gives him a level of tactical freedom and responsibility that Chelsea, still stabilising under new management and a young squad, may not currently match. Moving to a club still defining its identity could be seen as a step into uncertainty.

From Ødegaard’s perspective, the appeal of Chelsea would hinge on several factors: guaranteed Champions League football, a clear sporting project, and assurances regarding his role. As of now, none of those are certainties at Stamford Bridge.

While CHELSEA’s interest signals their ongoing push to add elite quality, the likelihood of ARSENAL parting with their captain—particularly to a local rival—remains slim.

Unless a drastic shift unfolds this summer, Ødegaard to Chelsea looks more like speculative transfer talk than a plausible move.

VLAHOVIC WILL BE INTERESTED IN CHELSEA MOVE

There has been some fresh reports in the media which have claimed that Chelsea are hoping to sign Dusan Vlahovic on a free transfer from Juventus at the end of the season, and he could be open to a move to England according to reported Iomie Stanley

Though Vlahovic has been an important performer for Juventus in recent season, scoring 64 goals in 162 games, the Italian side are keen to offload his club-high £350,000-a-week wages.

Clubs across Europe are on alert regarding Vlahovic’s situation, and the TMW website are reporting that Tottenham Hotspur and Chelsea have contacted the player’s representatives about a possible move to the Premier League in the summer

Vlahovic was free to negotiate a pre-contract agreement with foreign sides in the January window, but obviously that did not happen, but reports have claimed the London duo are battling for his signature. AC Milan are also keen and confident of a deal, despite Vlahovic’s interest in a move to England

And according to reporter Stanley, he could be interested in a mega money move to England, he told icfootballnews: ‘Dušan Vlahović is a powerful centre-forward known for his physical presence, aerial ability, and eye for goal — traits that could suit the Premier League’s intensity.

‘With a strong record in Italy’s top flight, Vlahović would add a proven goalscorer to Chelsea’s attack — something the Blues have lacked consistency in recently. He’s alo played in the top Leagues and the Champions League, giving him a maturity that can help a young Chelsea front line.

‘This blend of attributes means he could instantly compete for a starting role — particularly in games where Chelsea need a focal point up front or a plan B to more creative attackers.

‘A free transfer for Dušan Vlahović could be a smart strategic signing for CHELSEA — but only if the club integrates him well and balances his role in the team.

‘He isn’t the transformative figure who guarantees 20+ goals a season on his own, yet his physicality, Serie A experience, and finishing ability add a useful dimension to Chelsea’s attack

‘And the fact he would get more than his £300k-a-week that he gets at Juventus, he would more than be open to a move to Chelsea’
