Viola Davis & More Hollywood Stars React to Donald Trump Election Win

No matter what side you fall on, this year’s Presidential election likely left you with a lot of stress and anxiety. It was said by many that this was one of, if not the most, important elections the nation has ever faced due to all the issues and rights on the line. In what was a race that ended up not being as close as some said it might be, Donald Trump was confirmed to be the next President of the United States, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris. The Vice President had many celebrity backers as she impressively ran a campaign in two months’ time, and their reactions today are what you might expect, expressing profound disappointment and, in some cases, disgust.

One of the many rights on the line, for some, was basic female rights, particularly a woman’s right to choose in regard to their very own body. Christina Applegate took to her X page and wrote, “Please unfollow me if you voted against female rights. Against disability rights. Yeah that. Unfollow me because what you did is unreal. Don’t want followers like this. So yeah. Done. Also after today I will be shutting down this fan account that I have had for so many years because this is sick.” As of now, Applegate’s page is still up, and she has posted again saying that her anger has calmed, but the decision to leave a certain social media platform was also shared by others.

Elon Musk now owns X, and he stomped for Trump the loudest as the election got closer. If you have an X page, most of your algorithm was full of posts by Musk posting anything in support of the current President-elect. It’s likely because of this, some people don’t want to be on his platform anymore. Meanwhile, Bette Midler has seemingly deleted her X page after being a fairly frequent poster, leaving a quote from H.L. Mencken before departing that read:

Nancy Lee Grahn, a veteran of the soap opera General Hospital, who has also used her platform to speak out against Trump, seemed to share similar sentiments by writing, “I have done all I can do. I will be deleting all my social media in protection of my daughter. I’m so sorry. May God help us all.”

Celebrities Voice Their Disappointment With the Results & Admiration For Kamala Harris

Former Riverdale actress Lili Reinhart spoke to the women who have accused Trump of sexual misconduct only to watch him become President for a second time. Reinhart wanted to make it clear that she stands with them by saying, “I cannot fathom the feeling of the women who came forward about their sexual assault at the hands of Trump. Seeing millions of people vote for their abuser. My heart absolutely breaks for these women. I believe you, and I am so sorry.”

Some celebrities took to social media and led with their appreciation for Harris, with Viola Davis writing, “Thank you for your bravery @kamalaharris. Thank you for loving America’s promise. I am and will forever be proud.” The same sentiment was shared by Niecy Nash, who took to Instagram and wrote, “THANK YOU Madam Vice President @vp. You have made us unbelievably proud!
