Liverpool captain Virgil van Dijk assured the fanbase that the club management has a strong plan for the summer window. Van Dijk shared his conviction that the club has big ambitions for the coming years under head coach Arne Slot.
Liverpool are one point away from securing their 20th English League title in Slot’s first season as the new boss. The Reds will play Tottenham Hotspur at Anfield on Sunday to secure the Premier League title.
The achievement means more as Slot only added Federico Chiesa last summer in the bargain deal as his only signing. As the Reds’ competitive rivals gained strength, Slot assessed the squad he got from the legendary manager Jurgen Klopp.
Liverpool Sporting Director Richard Hughes has a big role to play during the summer transfer window, as Virgil van Dijk assured fans.
While Liverpool managed to drive forward in the Premier League, they suffered bad losses in the cup competitions. Those losses included an early round of 16 elimination from the Champions League and the Carabao Cup final defeat.
As quoted in the Mirror, Van Dijk assured the Liverpool fans that the management will work hard in the summer to strengthen the squad. He said:
“In my opinion, the story is not yet finished. The club is very ambitious, the plans for this summer sound good. There is still a lot to achieve here. Whatever is going to happen with players coming or leaving, I think this is going to be a very important summer for the club. I am convinced that the club management see it that way too – and we have to trust that they are going to do that in a good way. So that we can also play for prizes in the coming years.”
Despite winning the Premier League title, Liverpool have displayed a lot of vulnerabilities in their game this season. Furthermore, many players have displayed the problem of dropping the level of their performances as the season progresses.
