The United States Women’s National Team will have another pair of monster friendlies in April. Today, U.S. Soccer announced that the USWNT will face Brazil in friendlies at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles on April 5th and PayPal Park in San Jose on April 8th.
The matches will be the first between the two teams since they played in the 2024 Olympic gold medal match in Paris. The USWNT won 1-0 behind a Mallory Swanson goal. Both teams are in the top 10 in the recent World Rankings, with the USWNT #1 and Brazil sitting at #8.
The two teams will hope to bring a big crowd to SoFi Stadium, which will host several matches for the 2026 World Cup, including two group stage matches for the USMNT. It will be the first professional women’s sporting event at the stadium. It will also serve as yet another big test in 2025 for the USWNT, as Emma Hayes hopes to continue to build the player pool through matches against some of the best teams in the world.
“These are matches against a top team in fantastic stadiums that will be as fun for the players as they are for the fans,” Emma Hayes said in a statement. “To play the first ever women’s professional match at Sofi Stadium is a great honor and one worthy of this team. We’re very much looking forward to spending this trip in California which has produced so many players for the U.S. Women’s National Team and so many great moments in our history.”
