The United States Women’s National Team has a new opponent for their June 3rd match. Today, U.S. Soccer announced that Jamaica will replace China as the opponent for the USWNT in the June 3rd match at Energizer Park in St. Louis.
The match is the second of two friendlies that were scheduled for the May/June international window. Initially, China was set to play the USWNT in both friendlies. However, the Chinese Football Association informed U.S. Soccer that the team could only play in the first match on May 31st in St. Paul. After that news, U.S. Soccer secured Jamaica as the replacement for the June 3rd match.

The USWNT last faced the Reggae Girlz, ranked 40th in the world, in the group stage of the 2022 Concacaf W Championship in Monterrey, Mexico. That match was a 5-0 win for the United States, featuring goals by Rose Lavelle, Trinity Rodman, Kristie Mewis, and a brace by Sophia Wilson. The USWNT is 5-0-0 all-time against Jamaica, scoring 31 goals total without conceding a goal.
The June 3rd match will still feature a celebration for former USWNT captain Becky Sauerbrunn, who retired from professional soccer in December. She will be honored in a pregame ceremony in St. Louis, her hometown.
