The U.S. women’s national team are 2-0 to start 2026.
Emma Hayes’ squad rolled to a 5-0 friendly win over Chile on Tuesday night at Harder Stadium, closing their January window in winning fashion. Croix Bethune, Emily Sams, and Jameese Joseph all scored their first senior goals while Emma Sears and Trinity Rodman also found the back of the net.
Bethune propelled the Americans in front after 18 minutes, sliding home a through ball pass from Ayo Oke for her first international goal. It also marked Oke’s first assist for the USWNT.
Joseph doubled the USWNT’s lead eight minutes later, spinning onto her left foot in the Chile box before unleashing a powerful shot into the back of the net.
Sams captained the side on the night and proceeded to deliver the USWNT’s third goal of the first half.
Sears’ low drive into the box was redirected home by Sams for a 3-0 advantage.
Sears struck early after halftime to make it 4-0, getting on the end of Sams’ over-the-top ball before racing upfield and roofing a right-footed shot.
Rodman would deliver the USWNT’s fifth and final goal of the match, delivering a confident left-footed finish in the box. Riley Jackson played Rodman into the Chile box before the star attacker cut onto her left foot and slotted home at the far-left corner.
Rodman celebrated the goal by running over to Hayes at the USWNT bench before both delivered the “sexy dexy” dance.
The USWNT would hang on the remainder of the way, capturing their second win of the new year.
Up next for the Americans will be the annual SheBelieves Cup, beginning with a showdown against Argentina on March 1.
