The USWNT ended their October friendlies with a straight forward 3-0 win against Argentina. The goals came from an unlikely source as Naomi Girma notched a brace which included her first goals for the national team. The third goal would be on an own goal off of a set piece as the Americans were in control for the entire match and were up by the final tally by the 50th minute.
Once again, Emma Hayes brought some new faces into the starting XI with a few veterans in the mix as well.
It would be central defender Naomi Girma getting her first goal with the national team to put the team ahead 1-0 in the 37th minute. A set piece from Rose Lavelle was driven into the box and rather than let her goalkeeper come down with the ball, center back Aldana Cometti got a foot to it that just so happened to put it perfectly in the path of Girma.
The second goal would come just before the half as an own goal on a corner put the USA up 2-0. It would be a tough break for Cometti who had a rough first half.
The third goal would come as Girma placed a header into the upper 90 to make it 3-0 in the 49th minute.
It took Naomi Girma 42 matches to score her first USWNT goal.
Her second came 12 minutes later

All told, it would be.a pretty easy win for the USWNT. The Stars and Stripes dominated possession with 69% of the ball, outshot Argentina 18-4 and had six shots on target to their opponent’s one.
Following a pair of more nervy games against Iceland, this was a satisfying way to end the international window. Hayes got a look at some new faces and was able to try some different things on the pitch. The team also had to fight for a pair of wins in order to keep their edge against Iceland.
Next up the USWNT will travel to London to face off against England at Wembley on November 30th in what should be a test away from home for the squad.
