The USMNT roster for their Nations League matches against Jamaica will be released on Sunday and is probably well defined, barring any last weekend injuries. It seems unlikely anyone can play themselves into Sunday’s announcement specifically because of this weekend’s activity but we wait and see. Here’s what we’re watching while we wait:
Friday
Union Berlin v Freiburg – 2:30p on ESPN+
Jordan Pefok started and played 60’ last weekend as Union Berlin fell to Bayern Munich 3-0. It was Pefok’s first league start in over a month. Seventh place Union Berlin host sixth place Freiburg, which they trail by one point, this weekend.
Saturday
Middlesbrough v Luton Town – 7:30a on Paramount+
Aiden Morris started and played the full 90’ on Tuesday in Middlesbrough’s 4-1 win over relegation threatened QPR. Middlesbrough pulled themselves into the top ten with the win and will host a Luton Town side that are currently tied with six other teams for the final relegation spot.
Venezia v Parma – 9a on Paramount+
Gianluca Busio did not start last weekend against Inter Milan but came on at the half in an eventual 1-0 loss to last seasons champions (who currently trail Napoli by one point). Venezia’s match this weekend is an important one as they face a Parma side that currently have a one point lead in the race to avoid relegation.
Mainz v Borussia Dortmund – 9:30a on ESPN+
Cole Campbell has appeared in four straight matches for Borussia Dortmund across all competitions including seeing 13’ off the bench in Tuesday’s 1-0 Champion’s League win over Sturm Graz. Meanwhile, Gio Reyna remains injured and seems unlikely to appear prior to the international break. Dortmund defeated RB Leipzig last weekend and are in fifth place as they head to Mainz for Saturday’s matchup.
Brentford v AFC Bournemouth – 10a on Peacock
Tyler Adams played 24’ minutes off the bench last weekend as Bournemouth held on for an upset win over Manchester City, 2-1. Adam’s and Bournemouth broke into the top ten with the win and will travel to 12th place Brentford this weekend.
Crystal Palace v Fulham – 10a on USA Network
Chris Richards has missed the past several matches for Crystal Palace but is available this weekend as they host Antonee Robinson and Fulham. Robinson started yet again last weekend and picked up his third assist of the season as Fulham defeated Brentford 2-1.
Leeds United v Queens Park Rangers – 10a on Paramount+ and CBS Sports Golazo
Brenden Aaronson and Leeds United fell to Milwall 1-0 on Wednesday with Aaronson playing the full 90’. Leeds host Queens Park Rangers this weekend.

Strasbourg v Monaco – 11a on beIN SPorts
Folarin Balogun has returned to training but also seems unlikely to appear ahead of the international break as third place Monaco travel to Strasbourg in Ligue 1 action.
Cagliari v AC Milan – Noon on Paramount+
Christian Pulisic continued his fantastic start to the season, picking up an assist in AC Milan’s 3-1 win over Real Madrid. Yunus Musah also started the match and had a strong showing. In Serie A Milan are in seventh place and travel to Cagliari this weekend.

Malik Tillman has a goal and a pair of assists in PSV’s 4-0 win over Girona in Champions League action on Tuesday. Ricardo Pepi came in off the bench and Richard Ledezma was an unused substitute in the match. PSV did suffer their first loss of the Eredivisie season last weekend, 3-2 at the hands of Ajax, and will now head to ninth place NAC Breda looking to bounce back.
Juventus v Torino – 2:45p on Paramount+
Weston McKennie and Tim Weah both came off the bench in a 1-1 Champions League draw with Lille on Tuesday. It was McKennie’s second straight match off the bench while Weah had started on the right wing last weekend in Juve’s 2-0 win over Udinese Calcio. Juventus host Torino on Saturday as they return to Serie A action.
Sunday
Real Betis v Celta de Vigo – 8a on ESPN Deportes and ESPN+
Johnny Cardoso started and played 72’ on Thursday in Real Betis’ 2-1 UEFA Conference League win over NK Celje. Cardoso and Betis will host Celta Vigo this weekend which would setup a USMNT all time name matchup if not for the fact that Luca de la Torre has been available just once this season for Celta and was not selected for the squad on that occurrence.
Kilmarnock v Celtic – 10a on Paramount+
Cameron Carter-Vickers, Auston Trusty and Celtic travel to Kilmarnock in Scottish Championship action on Sunday.

Tanner Tessman played the full 90’ on Thursday in Lyon’s 2-2 draw with Hoffenheim in UEFA Europa League action. However, Tessman did not make it off the bench last weekend against Lille. Assuming the rotation continues this weekend he would not start as Lyon host relegation threatened Saint-Etienne.
