April 24 – As excitement builds ahead of UEFA Women’s EURO 2025 in Switzerland, head coaches and key operational staff from all 16 participating nations gathered this week in Nyon for a finalists’ workshop focused on delivering the competition’s logistical and technical framework.
Held at UEFA headquarters, the workshop addressed essential planning areas including refereeing protocols, team services, matchday operations, media and broadcast coordination, anti-doping and medical standards, and safety and sustainability measures.
The meeting offered national delegations a crucial opportunity to align with UEFA on the competition’s operational roadmap, just months out from kick-off on 2 July.
In parallel, UEFA confirmed the full list of referees for the tournament at the start of this month, naming 13 officials from across Europe alongside a guest team from South America as part of UEFA’s ongoing collaboration with CONMEBOL.
Among the standout names is France’s Stéphanie Frappart – one of the most recognisable figures in international refereeing – joined by referees from countries including Portugal, Romania, Italy, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.
Brazil’s Edina Alves Batista and two assistants will also officiate during the finals, reinforcing intercontinental ties. All selected officials will undergo an intensive training programme at UEFA HQ, with VAR operations to be centralised remotely from Nyon during the competition.
UEFA’s managing director for refereeing, Roberto Rosetti, praised the officials’ preparation: “As always for a EURO, the best and most consistent referees have been selected. All of them have passed the same fitness tests as elite men’s referees. We have full confidence in their quality.”
The Women’s EURO 2025 will be staged across eight Swiss cities from 2–27 July and is expected to be the largest edition of the tournament to date, both in scale and attendance.
