Tsimikas on joining Roma: “I couldn’t refuse.”

Kostas Tsimikas has officially joined Roma on a season-long loan.

The Greek defender released his first interview to the club.

“I’m happy to be here. From the beginning, when I saw that a big club like Roma wanted me, I was very happy. This could be a new chapter for me and my family, so I’m very happy to be here and I can’t wait to get started.”

I think it was the heaviest defeat at Anfield in European competitions, so I can say that I’ve always liked Gasperini’s style of play and I immediately thought his style of play suited me, because I like to push forward, cross, and try to score. I think he’s a special coach, and I’ve always wanted to come here to train with him, learn from him, and play for him.”

We’re really good friends, like brothers, and this relationship has lasted for 8-9 years, ever since we played for Olympiacos. I’m really happy to have him back in the national team. He’s always helped me and he’s a person I really like.”

“The fanbase? I think it’s very important. As you said, I played for Liverpool, and the fans there are incredible. One of the main reasons I chose to come here is the fans, because when we play in our stadium, they’re always there to cheer us on. For me, that’s the most important thing, because we need their support when the result isn’t the best and when we’re struggling. What matters most for a footballer is having fans like them, who push you to give your all and be consistent in every match.
