Top 10 Soldiers in Attack on Titan

Top 10 Soldiers in Attack on Titan

Whether Marleyan, Eldian, or otherwise, the soldiers in Attack on Titan are some of the strongest and most resilient individuals in any anime series, facing monumental threats on a daily basis and risking their own lives to guard both their comrades and innocent humans from danger. Each of these heroes has their own distinctive fighting style and moral code, but they are all united under a common goal: protecting the world from man-eating Titans.

Some soldiers, like Armin, rely on carefully concocted plans of attack and manipulation, while others, like Levi Ackerman, focus more heavily on brute force and stunning swordsmanship. Without each of these Attack on Titan soldiers, there is no telling how long the Titans would have terrorized the world, and for that, these characters deserve recognition.

Pieck Finger

Pieck’s Cart Titan Killed One of the Strongest of the Nine Titans, the War Hammer Titan

The Cart Titan, Pieck Finger, is one of the series’ most accomplished Marleyan Warriors, despite deserving more screentime and backstory. Although she is incredibly sweet and kind to others, she never shies away from fights, even with other deadly soldiers like Levi and Eren.

Not only does Pieck possess a lightning fast Titan, her analytical skills are top-notch, allowing her to dream up effective plans for Marley’s success on missions. From protecting Gabi to killing one of the Nine Titans, the War Hammer Titan, Pieck’s accomplishments are many, proving her status as one of Attack on Titan’s top soldiers.

Reiner Braun

Reiner’s Emotional Complexity, Resilience, and Indestructible Armored Titan Make Him Truly Mighty

Reiner Braun is one of Attack on Titan’s most emotionally complex and best written characters, betraying his Survey Corps comrades by secretly working for his home country, Marley, to steal Eren’s Titan shifting powers. His Titan, the Armored Titan, is one of the most impenetrable because of its ability to block oncoming attacks with hardened skin, making him indestructible.

Reiner is a valuable asset to whatever side of the battle he is fighting on, not just because of his indestructibly solid Titan, but because he is willing to push himself to the point of near death to win. Despite the mental health challenges and family trauma Reiner has struggled with, he worked hard to become a Titan-killing machine, risking his own safety for everyone else’s sake, especially younger children like Gabi and Falco.

Jean Kirstein

Jean Became Dedicated To Killing as Many Titans as He Could, Shedding His Past Lazy Attitude

Jean Kirstein is not only one of Attack on Titan’s best soldiers, he is one of the most inspiring because of how dramatically he changed. When he first enlisted to fight Titans, he planned on choosing to join the Military Police, so he would not have to face actual combat and could indulge his laziness to his heart’s content.

Top 10 Anime Similar to Attack on Titan

There’s no anime like Attack on Titan, but these options that share similar elements are sure to delight those looking for what to watch next.

After Jean’s close friend, Marco, died, he had a sobering realization about his own mortality and swore to make a positive impact on the world before he died. Jean’s efforts were not in vain, because he became 6th ranked in his class and exceptional at using equipment like thunder spears, all without a Titan, no less.

Mike Zacharias

Mike’s Acute Sense of Smell Makes It Impossible for Titans to Evade Him

Mike Zacharias is one of the most underrated members of the Survey Corps, even though he is the second-highest ranked soldier after Levi Ackerman, humanity’s strongest soldier. He was the victim of a deadly attack by an Abnormal Titan during the battle with Zeke’s Beast Titan, but before his death, he killed five Titans on his own.

His abilities differentiate him from other soldiers, particularly his keen sense of smell. Mike can detect approaching Titans using his nose, making it nearly impossible for one of the beasts to avoid him. Had he not been caught off guard by that Abnormal Titan, he no doubt would have racked up an even more staggering number of kills.

Erwin Smith

Erwin Lost His Arm and, Eventually, His Life, Fighting Titans, Proving His Dedication To Destroying the Creatures

Erwin was the 13th Commander of the Survey Corps, and although some viewers argue he was too willing to let soldiers die for the cause of destroying the Titans, he led his squad with thoroughly-planned strategies and a willingness to fight alongside his soldiers, never letting them face dangerous Titans like the Beast Titan alone.

Even having an arm bitten off by a Titan did not sway Erwin from his work to save humanity, revealing the extent of his dedication to his job as a soldier and Commander. Although not every choice Erwin made was perfect, overall, he worked hard to ensure humanity would no longer have to cower behind walls in fear of the Titans, giving up his own life for this goal.

Hange Zoe

In a Touching Act of Sacrifice, Hange Gave up Their Life To Help the Other Soldiers Win the Final Fight

Hange rightfully earned more respect than almost anyone else in Attack on Titan, because they sacrificed everything to stop the Titans without a second thought. Towards the end of the battle, Hange leaped into a crowd of charging Titans to buy the others time to escape, dying a painful death at the hands of the terrifying creatures.

10 Reasons Attack On Titan Is Still One Of The Greatest Anime Of All Time

Attack on Titan is beloved for many reasons, and now that the anime is over, it’s clear that the series stands among anime’s greatest of all time.

Hange faced their death with a shocking amount of curiosity and wonder, exclaiming “Titans really are incredible,” since they had devoted their life to studying the beasts to fight them more effectively. They did not make empty promises, Hange showed through their actions that saving humanity was worth their own life, and that makes them one of the series’ most honorable soldiers.

Eren Yeager

No One Was a More Adamant Hater of Titans Than Eren, Who Would Do Anything to Slaughter Them

Despite being the main character, Eren is the most controversial figure in Attack on Titan because of his choice to destroy 80% of humanity in an effort to save his fellow Eldians. In his pursuit of this goal, he revealed just how unfaltering his resolve was, because even his best friends’ words and the prospect of his own death could not divert him from the path he was going down.

Apart from this questionable final action, Eren was one of the most accomplished members of the Survey Corps, especially once he unleashed his Titan form. Armed with resolve to “kill them all,” as he constantly promised to do, no one was more enraged by the Titans than Eren, and every carefully calculated step he took brought him closer to ending their lives for good.

Armin Arlert

Armin’s Colossal Titan May Be Strong, but His Mind Is Even Stronger

From the beginning of Attack on Titan, Armin was bullied by his peers and labeled as weak, but he would go on to prove them all wrong by rising in the Survey Corps’ ranks to the 15th Commander after Hange Zoe’s death. As the Colossal Titan, Armin can crush thousands of enemies underfoot at a time, but his physical strength is not even his best asset.

Levi’s Most Difficult Choice Saved Attack on Titan, & I Can Prove it

One of Attack on Titan’s most controversial topics is who Levi should have chosen to revive with the Titan serum, and I feel the answer is clear.

Armin’s mind is what truly makes him one of the series’ best soldiers, because his genius plans have led the Survey Corps to success on numerous occasions. Some of Armin’s best moments include tricking Annie Leonhart into revealing her Female Titan, discovering Reiner and Bertholdt’s Titans, and even manipulating his own best friend, Eren, who was threatening humanity. No Attack on Titan character schemes better than Armin, explaining why Hange chose him as the next Commander of the Survey Corps.

Mikasa Ackerman

Mikasa Is a Powerhouse Titan-Killer With an Unshakable Sense of Justice and Respect for Humanity

Because she is an Ackerman like Levi, it makes sense that Mikasa managed to kill about 11 Titans on her own, more than most others in the Survey Corps. Ackermans are gifted with a set of unexplainable skills called Ackerman powers that awaken when their user is placed in a dangerous situation, and after she faced a kidnapping attempt in her youth, Mikasa’s mysterious powers were awakened.

Mikasa arguably lost more than anyone else, losing the love of her life, Eren, because he refused to stop the Rumbling. Even though she loved Eren dearly, her duty to humanity was more pressing, and she beheaded him herself to end his tyrannical murder of everyone who was not an Eldian. Mikasa is a powerhouse, but her commitment to justice is even more impressive, since she set aside her own emotions for the greater good.

Levi Ackerman

Even After Losing an Eye and Multiple Fingers, Levi Was Still the Strongest Soldier Alive

Known by the noble nickname, humanity’s strongest soldier, it is no surprise that Levi is greatly respected in Attack on Titan, even by his enemies. His Titan kill count is at least 89, which is a tremendous number for just one person to take down by themselves, highlighting his expert swordsmanship and quick thinking on the battlefield.

Never afraid to take charge, Levi effectively led others and kept his soldiers safe to the best of his ability, all while charging head on into the war himself too. Although he lost an eye, multiple fingers, and sustained leg injuries that left him in a wheelchair by the end of Attack on Titan, these wounds only go to show how invested he was in the fight to save humanity, and without his sacrifices, the Titans would have likely succeeded in wiping out everyone.
