Oscar-winning star Tommy Lee Jones, whose prestigious filmography includes Men in Black, The Fugitive, and No Country for Old Men, has issued a public statement following his daughter’s death. In the early hours of New Year’s Day, Victoria Jones, who herself appeared in Men in Black II, was pronounced dead at the San Francisco Hotel after being discovered unresponsive in the corridor by another guest. She was 34 years old and leaves behind a devastated family, including her mother Kimberlea Cloughley and brother Austin Jones.
Per E! News, the Jones family’s brief statement reads: “We appreciate all of the kind words, thoughts, and prayers. Please respect our privacy during this difficult time. Thank you.” This comes after the hotel’s press director, Michelle Heston, told PEOPLE: “We are deeply saddened by an incident that occurred at the hotel on January 1, 2026. Our heartfelt condolences are with the family and loved ones during this very difficult time. The hotel team is actively cooperating and supporting police authorities within the framework of the ongoing investigation.”
According to police dispatch audio obtained by the same publication, the incident was called in under a Code 3 “for the overdose, color change,” which is linked to the use of drugs. “Our units responded to the scene, performed an assessment, and declared one person deceased,” the spokesperson said in a statement. No official cause of death has been determined yet.
Victoria Jones was born in September 1991. After acting alongside her father in both Men in Black II and The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada, Jones said of his daughter, “She’s a good actress, has her SAG card, speaks impeccable Spanish. When she was a baby, I told her nurse to speak to her in Spanish, but I fired my daughter [from the movie]. She had to get up at 5 a.m. for her part. One morning, she wouldn’t get out of bed. I said, ‘Honey, this is work.’ But she wouldn’t budge, so I fired her. Then, without telling me, the production staff went over and woke her and rushed her out to the set just in time.”
In the year prior to her death, Jones was arrested several times for obstructing a peace officer, being under the influence of a controlled substance without a valid prescription and possession of a controlled substance without a valid prescription.
