Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Fame Helped Break Up a Fight in a Whole Foods

Tom Holland’s Spider-Man Fame Helped Break Up a Fight in a Whole Foods

Imagine you’re going to the grocery store to pick up a few things – and perhaps sneer at the price of organic eggs – when all of a sudden a fight breaks out, and you find yourself in the middle of the ruckus, pulling apart the two brawlers only to have one of them recognize you as a global superstar. That’s exactly what happened to Spider-Man himself, Tom Holland, who says his fame helped defuse the situation.

Holland is, of course, the MCU star who’s appeared in three Spider-Man films, a couple of Avengers movies, and one Captain America flick. In a new interview with Men’s Health, the 28-year-old English actor relayed the story of the fight that took place at Whole Foods in Los Angeles recently, saying he jumped in to help break it up, but that it wasn’t until one of the combatants recognized him that things began to calm down.

“They’re like going at it, right behind me. I can see that he’s recognized me immediately, and you could see the wheels turning, like, ‘I’m really angry, but Spider-Man is telling me to calm down.’ So, yeah, I go to the supermarket.”

It’s going to be an odd reunion, to say the least.

Holland didn’t specify what the two were fighting over, so it could have been anything from a gambling debt to the outrageous cost of lettuce. Who knows? Either way, it’s good he was there to help settle things, but man, can you imagine being the guy who has Spider-Man telling you to calm down? What a jerk he must’ve felt like after it was over. We bet he asked for a selfie, too.

Tom Holland Has a Busy 2025 Lined Up

Though Holland is coming off the critically-panned 2023 miniseries The Crowded Room, he’s looking to get things back on track in the new year, shooting no less than two, hopeful blockbusters in 2025. One of them is Spider-Man 4, which will see his character dealing with the aftermath of the events in Spider-Man: No Way Home as he focuses more on being the famous web-slinger, and less on being Peter Parker. Filming is expected to get underway mid-year, with a release date of July 24, 2026 already carved out.

The other movie is Christopher Nolan’s latest film, which will be the director’s take on Homer’s The Odyssey. The stacked cast not only includes Holland, but the likes of Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, Matt Damon, Charlize Theron, Lupita Nyong’o, and Robert Pattinson. Filming for that is also expected to begin at some point this year, and Holland will find himself competing with himself at the box office, as it’s set to open one week before Spider-Man 4 on July 17, 2026.

So, while Holland may have been absent from the scene in 2024, it’s clear that this year is already shaping up to be a pretty big one for the star, which will hopefully translate into a successful 2026. As to whether he’ll be taking more trips to the grocery store anytime soon? The verdict is still out on that one.
