If you are struggling to finish off today’s Connections puzzle, you can fan the flames of victory with a few hints and tips. There are a lot of potential options for you in this puzzle, and for me, it was a difficult one. There are a lot of words that feel like they could all be in the same category, and that was one that I struggled with. It can be a tough puzzle to finish, but if you pay attention and sort out some of the details with our help, you will be able to finish it well.
If you want to solve a slightly different puzzle, the Strands NYT puzzle is one that you could try out. There are a number of different word search puzzles out there, but this one is small enough that it does not take too long, and challenging enough to be fun. It’s almost always themed with a pop culture experience, such as a specific author or franchise. It also doesn’t have to be just one word, which can add to the challenge of the puzzle.
Today’s Connections Category Hints
FEBRUARY 05 #605
This puzzle felt harder to me than the last few. There was a lot of crossover and a lot of words that felt like they could all go in the same category. It always seems easier when I look at the answers afterward, and that is true today as well. However, it still seems a little harder, just because of the nature of many of the words. One category stands out among the others in a more distinct fashion, but the rest are a little harder.
- One category is about four things that you should ask about if you get a job offer
- One category is about four things that are quite telling
- One category is about four things that are possible with a certain item
- One category is about four things that the same word could refer to

This one was one of the tough categories for me today. The amount of money-related words made it hard to distinguish between them, especially with the last category having a more obscure connection between them. I guessed close to this a number of times, with a mix of words from the other categories. I left this one and came back to it a couple of times, but it wasn’t just this category that made me a bit frustrated today, as the other categories were just as confusing for the same reason.

This was another one that I guessed very close to the right answer multiple times, as I had all these words with the exception of GIVEAWAY selected at the same time. GIVEAWAY was stuck in my head as the more literal meaning for the entire time. I was not thinking of it as something that is more of a “TELL.” I had BEAK for one guess and swapped a different word out before then moving on, and I never really came back to try again. However, the next category was a little easier.

SHUFFLE |
This is the one category that I felt had a stronger and more obvious distinction between the rest of the categories. FAN might be a little odd, but it didn’t fit in with the rest of the money words and most people who have played card games have done this with their cards. It was a nice, easier category in the midst of my frustration, which gave me a break. Unfortunately, it was a short break before I got frustrated with all of the other words in the puzzle.

WILLIAM |
I’m not sure if I would have gotten this one or not. I looked at WILLIAM several times, sure that it was probably a big clue to what the last category was. I was right, but unfortunately, I didn’t see how I was right until the puzzle was over. BEAK is also something that can be a “sign” as in the beak of a ship, and I was leaning heavily on that definition as opposed to the definition that this category is going for.
