‘The White Lotus’ Patrick Schwarzenegger Has a Goal of Making an Action Movie With His Father

The White Lotus Season 3 wrapped last Sunday, and one of its young stars is already planning his future after the series. Patrick Schwarzenegger, who plays Saxon Ratliff in the HBO drama, is likely still enjoying the effects of what is, undoubtedly, one of his best performances, but the young heir to the Schwarzenegger legacy knows what he wants to do next: make an action movie with his father, Arnold.

The actor spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about his role as Saxon, the douchey and wealthy Chad who faces a reality shock during a vacation with his family in Thailand. Although the actor constantly plays all kinds of characters that heavily differ from what his father did in his youth, Schwarzenegger understands that in the Hollywood spotlight, he’s still under the shadow of his father. Nevertheless, he says that Arnold is now facing what Patrick faced when he was a child: “That part of his success always felt weird to me. It’s probably weird for him now, too. We went to the gym together yesterday, and people went up to him and started talking about my show.”

Schwarzenegger bears an uncanny resemblance to his father. But fortunately, he has managed to build a career of his own with great roles in series like The Staircase and Gen V, and movies like Daniel Isn’t Real. Even though he’s still not the action star his father was at a young age, Schwarzenegger believes an action movie is part of his near future. He also teases that it could co-star his father, the legendary T-800 in the Terminator franchise:

“I definitely want to do [an action movie]. I mean, that’s the goal down the road is to do those types of things. I’d love to do that, if it was the right thing. I’ve talked to my dad about it, and I’ve told him I’d love to do that if it was the right thing. I’ve never wanted to, but now I feel like I have some credits under my belt, and that I’ve had some work, and I feel like I’ve gotten to the point where I would feel comfortable working with him.”

What’s Next for Patrick Schwarzenegger After ‘The White Lotus’ Season 3?

It’s still too soon to predict whether Saxon could return in a future season of The White Lotus, or any other Season 3 character, for that matter. The young and successful Ratliff is likely still in shock after what he did with his brother, but other traumas await him. He will likely have to face the law, like his father.

Schwarzenegger recently shared a pretty cool idea to return to the Mike White show about wealthy people on vacation. “I feel like they’d do all the douchiest guys together or all the hotel managers together,” said Schwarzenegger when pitching his idea for a future season of The White Lotus. The actor just seems relaxed about what’s coming, and he says he will be “patient.” However, he also said that his next role will be the “most challenging” he’s ever done:

“It’s been busy, but I’m going to be patient. I really want to find something that’s right. You know, there is one thing that I’m working on with this amazing director, a director that I’ve looked up to for my whole career. I’ve loved his projects, and we’re making something, and I hope it happens later this year. That will be extremely difficult and would put me through the most challenging, probably life experience and acting experience.”
