‘The Pitt’ Season 2 Main Characters and Guest Stars, Ranked by Likability

So far, the HBO Max medical drama’s second season has had an epic cliffhanger, hinted at some romances, and delivered the emotional storylines that fans want to see.

The Pitt is such a great show because even the guest stars, recurring or otherwise, are exciting to watch. Whether patients who check into Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center with perplexing injuries or the new doctor who will take over when Dr. Robby leaves, it’s impossible to call any character on the beloved hospital drama boring. They all play a key role in Season 2, Episode 2, “8:00 A.M.,” whether they get a lot or little screen time. So, let’s take a look at the guest stars and major characters from the most recent episode of The Pitt and see how charming they are.

‘The Pitt’ Season 2, Episode 2 Guest Stars, Ranked by Likability

16: Michael Williams (Derek Cecil): Although there must be a reason why Dr. McKay’s patient is acting aggressively, we don’t know yet, and his harsh demeanor makes it tough to like him.
15: James Ogilvie (Lucas Iverson): James is a conceited medical student who doesn’t have many likable qualities, at least at this point in The Pitt Season 2.
14: Noelle Hastings (Meta Golding): Robby’s new love interest seems sweet and smart, but she only appears in one brief scene.
13: Joy Kwon (Irene Choi): Medical student Joy, a new The Pitt Season 2 character, seems bored by her training, but will likely get more character development later on in the season.
12: Jackson Davis (Zack Morris): Based on Jackson’s reason for coming to the hospital (poor behavior at a college library), we’re not sure why he’s acting this way, but The Pitt will likely reveal what’s really going on in Season 2, Episode 3.
11: Sister Grace Matthews (Heather Wynters): While it’s easy to sympathize with the kind-hearted nun who got gonorrhea from volunteering and doing laundry, other minor characters on The Pitt make a bigger impression.
10: Dylan (Becca Blackwell): A social worker who does his best to work within the hospital system and clearly has empathy for Kylie, but whom we don’t know very well at this point.
9: Perlah Alawi (Amielynn Abellera): A kind and compassionate nurse who makes Kylie feel more comfortable during her hospital stay, which is important since any child would be scared and nervous.
8: Princess (Kristin Villanueva): As we’ve come to expect, the nurse who cares deeply about her job continues approaching each shift with humor, which adds some necessary lightness here.
7: Emma Nolan (Laëtitia Hollard): A new graduate and nurse whom we feel for because she’s so anxious and nervous about starting her career in medicine (but who we also want to encourage to be more confident).
6: Dr. Caleb Jefferson (Christopher Thornton): In one of the episode’s more emotional scenes, Dr. Jefferson finds a clever way to work around hospital rules and help Evelyn, which speaks to how much he puts patients first.
5: Dr. Yolanda Garcia (Alexandra Metz): Although she appears briefly, Dr. Garcia is still one of the best doctors at Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center and is focused on helping patients.
4: Evelyn Bostick (Jayne Taini): It’s impossible not to feel bad for Evelyn, an elderly woman with Alzheimer’s who has a hard time accepting her husband’s death (and who wants to go home and make him Shepherd’s pie).
3: Troy Digby (Charles Baker): It’s also impossible not to have empathy for Troy, an unhoused man whom we see taking a shower (and having his cast removed to reveal maggots). The Pitt asks viewers to approach his story with compassion, and he’s one of the most heartbreaking parts of Season 2, Episode 2.
2: Louie Cloverfield (Ernest Harden Jr): A recurring patient who is an alcoholic, Louie’s cheerful attitude in this episode is heartwarming, and we want him to be okay.
1: Kylie Conners (Annabelle Toomey): As a child whom Dr. Santos thinks could be abused by her father, Kylie is the most likable minor character in The Pitt Season 2 so far, and her storyline is heartbreaking (but there could be more to the story).

‘The Pitt’ Season 2, Episode 2 Main Characters, Ranked by Likability

10: Victoria Javadi (Shabana Azeez): Although she doesn’t have her own storyline in The Pitt Season 2, Episode 2, Victoria shows more confidence when interacting with Dr. Santos, which is great to see after her anxiety and worry in Season 1.
9: Dr. Samira Mohan (Supriya Ganesh): As she treats patients and shares her opinions on how to best help them, Dr. Mohan is caring, smart, and confident in this episode.
8: Dr. Trinity Santos (Isa Briones): While she’s still overly confident, Dr. Santos continues to show concern for Kylie, and proves she’s matured since Season 1.
7: Dr. Cassie McKay (Fiona Dourif): Dr. McKay has shown a lot of growth, and she’s one of the more likable doctors in this episode as she carefully approaches the problem of an aggressive patient.
6: Dr. Frank Langdon (Patrick Ball): Dr. Langdon is vulnerable and sweet in this episode, and he’s a different, more cautious, and quieter doctor than he was at the end of The Pitt Season 1.
5: Dennis Whitaker (Gerran Howell): It’s a joy to watch Whitaker train two medical students and take charge of his medical career, and he’s as charming and endearing as ever.
4: Dr. Mel King (Taylor Dearden): Watching Mel worry about her deposition is heartbreaking, and while it distracts her throughout this hour of her shift, we understand why.

3: Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi (Sepideh Moafi)

We get to know Dr. Baran Al-Hashimi more in The Pitt Season 2, Episode 2, and she has some particularly compelling conversations with Dr. Robby. She’s one of the more likable doctors in this episode since she wants to help patients, but also hopes to be there for the doctors, nurses, interns, and medical students. When she notes that most doctors spend most of their time filling out patient charts, we understand that she wants things to be more efficient. And when she asks if someone from the orthopedics department could do a quick consult, and the others laugh because it would take too long, we sympathize with her. It’s not easy to start a new job or work with people who have known each other for years.

After the intense storylines of The Pitt Season 1, it’s interesting to watch someone new come in, especially since Dr. Al-Hashimi has big dreams and ideas. When she tells Robby she hoped he would have feedback for her, we see a vulnerable side of her. She really wants to have an honest conversation with him, but since he’s too busy during the shift, it hasn’t happened yet.

2: Dana Evans (Katherine LaNasa)

Since The Pitt Season 2 features a time jump, and it’s now been 10 months since Doug Driscoll (Drew Powell) assaulted Dana, she’s had time to process what happened to her (although, of course, this will stick with her forever). While Dana is always one of the most likable characters on the hospital drama, she’s even kinder and more helpful in Season 2, Episode 2.

Dana always keeps the hospital running smoothly, and she’s in fine form here. Her best scenes are with Emma, a new nurse who is intimidated by the hospital’s busy pace and the expertise and knowledge of the other doctors. Although some experienced nurses, who have been working as long as Dana, might be frustrated by Emma’s naive personality, Dana treats her with respect. She’s still the employee whom everyone relies on and talks to when a small (or huge) crisis is happening. It’s clear that while everyone learns a lot from Dana, she truly appreciates getting the chance to interact with them and thrives in her role.

1: Dr. Robby Robinavitch (Noah Wyle)

While The Pitt follows an ensemble cast, there’s no question that Dr. Robby is the heart of the story. Robby is particularly endearing in Season 2, Episode 2, “8:00 A.M.” Whether telling Mel that she’ll be okay during her deposition or joking about “wee-search” on how to catch a newborn baby’s pee, he’s as determined to be a good doctor and mentor as ever. However, there’s something lighter about him in this episode, which suggests that he’s looking forward to taking a break and going on vacation.

Robby is the most likable character in this particular episode as he juggles his various roles seamlessly. He gives pep talks and advice when he can, checks in on patients, and lets his coworkers know that he’ll have time to talk to them later (although we have to wonder if that’s really true). However, it’s the scene of Robby holding the abandoned newborn that is the most moving and beautiful. He takes a moment to ignore the action and chaos around him, and it makes viewers wonder if he longs to become a parent and have a more fulfilling personal life outside the hospital.
