‘The Boys’ Creator Shares a Super Update on Forgotten Fourth Spinoff

‘The Boys’ Creator Shares a Super Update on Forgotten Fourth Spinoff

It looks like the end of The Boys is only the beginning for the franchise and a new update has provided the current status of the fourth spinoff based on the bloody graphic novel adaptation. Fans of The Boys have already seen the franchise dip into animation with Diabolique, bring in a new generation of superheroes and villains to screens with Gen V, and will soon see Jensen Ackles leading the prequel series, Vought Rising. Now, Eric Kripke has shared an exciting update on the next branching arm of the franchise, The Boys: Mexico.

Like most successful franchises, it seems The Boys is not complete without its entourage of spinoffs. With Gen V heading into its second season, and Vought Rising set to bring some fan-favorite characters to screens in the coming months, little has been said about the Mexico series that has been teased since 2023. While speaking to Collider at the premiere of Gen V Season 2, Kripke finally gave fans reason to be excited, as the latest entry in the franchise seems to be coming all guns blazing down the line. He said:

“The pilot of [The] Boys: Mexico is being developed right now. It’s very cool. I mean, who knows — obviously you never know, but I can say that the world itself meets the standard of all of our spin-offs. It’s our world but a totally different tone, and it’s super fun. Gael [Garcia Bernal] and Diego [Luna] are executive producers, which is amazing and [they] really engaged with it, so — short answer is we’ll see, but I think the script is good.”

‘The Boys’ Season 5 Will Bring the Main Story to a Close

All good things come to an end, and while Kripke’s previous huge series, Supernatural, originally closed out its story after five seasons only to then continue for another 10 seasons afterward, the same will not happen with The Boys.

After six years of gratuitous sex and violence, the final season of The Boys has been bitter sweet for many of the cast, including Antony Starr, who has portrayed Homelander in the series since its 2019 debut. Talking about the ending of the series, and presumably his character, Starr previously told Entertainment Weekly:

“Difficult (for me) to put into words what an incredible ride this has been. How much life and growth has occurred. How amazing the team is. It’s truly been the highlight of my career.

And at the end of the shoot, all there really is to say is – thank you. The incredible Canadian crew. The amazing production team. The insanely talented cast. The people at Amazon and Sony that took a chance on this insane thing(and made the great choice in casting me) and all the other people that contributed in some way, big or small, to this beautiful, complex, warped, delicious show.”

The Season 4 finale of The Boys left plenty of threads hanging to ensure that fans will be desperate to see how the story ends for Homelander, Billy Butcher and the rest of the rogue’s gallery of characters they have come to love (or hate). Season 5 has been teased as an insane bloodbath where no one is safe, and that kind of unpredictability, along with the knowledge that this is the end of the road for this set of characters, means it is going to be one hell of a final ride.
