Research has been carried out by football finance expert Kieran Maguire to find out who are the biggest ever Premier League signings.

However, to make it relevant across more than three decades, Kieran and @BlueCityBrain have used a football inflation formula, so that Premier League transfers can be properly compared across these last few decades

This is how their research turned out, the biggest ever 20 Premier League signings:

As you can see, Newcastle United with three signings included in this top twenty.

All of this trio signed within a time period of just over a year, with Les Ferdinand arriving at Newcastle United in summer 1995, Tino Asprilla in February 1996, then Alan Shearer in summer 1996.
