‘That’s my job’ – Haaland on reaching 100 Premier League goals

‘That’s my job’ – Haaland on reaching 100 Premier League goals

Manchester City striker Erling Haaland says scoring goals is his job after becoming the fastest player to reach 100 Premier League goals in an astonishing 5-4 win at Fulham.

Haaland thumped in the opener at Craven Cottage to reach the landmark three figures on his 111th Premier League appearance.

Alan Shearer held the previous record, scoring 100 in 124 games. Haaland now has 144 goals for the club since joining in 2022 but thinks he should have more.

“It’s a proud moment,” he told Sky Sports. “The 100 club is a huge thing. To do it this quickly is amazing. I’m proud, I’m happy.

“I’ve said it many times – a striker for City should score a lot of goals. That’s my job, that’s what I try to do. And I’m not bad at it!

“I should have had a hat-trick, I had a few chances. I need to practice.”

Haaland hit the post twice in a crazy game and when asked if he has another 100 in him simply answered: “Why not?”.

Shearer remains the Premier League’s all time goalscorer on 260, while Liverpool’s Mo Salah has the most of players still playing in the league on 190.

“[It was] chaotic,” Haaland said. “Nine goals in a game is too much. If you’re watching this game at home, it should be match of the day as you said! It was a crazy game.

“At 5-2 or 5-3 I was close to scoring and then they went and made it 5-3 so that’s football, that’s the beauty of football. That’s why we love the game.”
