‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Release Date Teased by Hannah Waddingham

After much speculation, fans might finally know when the hit Apple TV series Ted Lasso Season 4 will be released. Despite Season 3 being marketed as the final season, the critically acclaimed series starring Jason Sudeikis as the lovable coach is returning for another batch of episodes.

Hannah Waddingham, who plays Rebecca Welton, the new owner of AFC Richmond in the series, spoke with Deadline at the British Film and Television Awards (BAFTA) and teased what fans can expect from Ted Lasso Season 4. “It’s a whole different deal…with our Lady Greyhounds. I can’t wait for everyone to see what they’ve come up with,” said Waddingham.

As for when the series is expected to return, Waddingham might have let it slip: “August, I think. Am I allowed to say August? What if I’m wrong?” She concluded with, “I think it’s August.” Apple TV has not officially announced a release date for Ted Lasso Season 4, though it has teased a summer premiere window.

Ted Lasso Season 4 will see the title character coaching a second division woman’s football team. Alongside Sudeikis and Waddingham, cast members Brett Goldstein, Juno Temple, Brendan Hunt, and Jeremy Swift are set to return. Phil Dunster, who played AFC Richmond player Jamie Tart, will not return for Season 4. Grant Feely is taking over the role of Ted’s son, Henry, for Season 4, replacing Gus Turner.

While the series has currently only greenlit for Season 4, Waddingham is open to returning for more. She said:

“I’d do it until I’m walking on a Zimmer frame when I’m 80. I love it. I love Rebecca Welton, my character, and the writing is so magnificent. Jason Sudeikis and the writers’ room, it’s like a finely tuned machine. And the life lessons that you realize that they’re just tipping in here and there, it’s brilliant.”

An August 2026 premiere date would be fitting, given that Ted Lasso Season 1 debuted on Aug. 14, 2020. The second season premiered on Jul. 23, 2021, and ran through August of that year, concluding in October. Season 3 aired from March to May 2023. With 2026 having a repeating calendar as 2020, it would feel appropriate for Ted Lasso Season 4, a relaunch of the series, to debut on the same day as Season 1.
