The Housemaid star Sydney Sweeney is going to extreme lengths to promote her latest brand, and it could even land her in some legal trouble. As her latest R-rated thriller becomes a box office sensation, the actress has once again made headlines for something that has little to do with her acting career.
As reported by TMZ, Sweeney and her crew recently went to the Hollywood sign in order to film a video promoting a new line of lingerie (with the support of Jeff Bezos). The footage reveals the actress draping the famous sign with bras, presumably from her new brand. Per TMZ, the marketing gimmick could become a legal issue for Sweeney, as her team reportedly did not have permission to climb or touch the sign. When reached for comment by the outlet, the Chair of the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce stated that “There was no permission granted to do this as is required.” Judge for yourself in the video below.
It should be noted that, despite the potential infraction, the Hollywood Chamber of Commerce declined to tell TMZ if they were going to file a police report. The bras in the video were also taken down shortly after executing the promotional stunt. Now, it is peculiar that the leaked footage not only made its way to TMZ, but there are no official signs that legal charges will be pursued for trespassing or vandalism. If we were to speculate, there is a chance that the “leak” and subsequent report are a part of the marketing scheme. No matter the case, all publicity is good publicity (at least, for the most part).
