The weekend may be over, but that does not mean that it is too late to dive into another hit gaming experience. Although many of us are probably racking up the hours in Pokopia or maybe even finishing up that pesky Resident Evil Requiem speedrun, time can still be given to some underrated gems that have been added to Steam in recent days.
Better yet? All eight games that I am going to talk about today are completely free to play. Not demos, or limited-time events, but free to download and play whenever the mood takes you. So whether you are looking for a boomer shooter, a TCG, or even a Metroidvania, this list is guaranteed to have something to suit you.
Steam Gamers Can Grab 8 New Free Games Now
First up is Chapel 3-D: The Ascent, a “break-neck, violent boomer shooter inspired by the classics of the genre.” With unlimited power at your fingertips, you will slowly transform from a meek human into a fire-breathing monster as you use interdimensional portals in order to transport yourself across various different worlds. By throwing your heart, you will be able to teleport to it, and I don’t know about you, but that sounds cool as hell.
Next is Might & Magic Fates, an original card battle game where you will need to command heroes, summon iconic creatures, cast powerful spells, and think tactically as you collect your cards and build various unique decks. By facing rivals in devastating duels, you will soon find yourself as the legend of the Sea of Fates.
If you are a Metroidvania fan, you will love Liturnian. Set in a strange world inhabited by living lights, you will face fluid movement, strange creatures, and exciting puzzles as you shine a light where it cannot reach. Filled with platforming challenges, combat, and puzzles, this epic title will see you discover what happened over a century ago to cast your world into darkness, and more importantly, return the light to the people.
In the “friendslop” era, you should check out Euro3v3. In this tactical team shooter, you and friends can team up to safely control a line of robots. In order to become a perfectly coordinated unit, you will need to work together and communicate in order to build the perfect defenses and come out on top.
There’s Always Something New (And Free) To Play On Steam
We are not done just yet, as Dragon Arena is also up for grabs. In this 5v5 third-person 3D MOBA, you will once again need to combine teamwork and strategy to defend your team’s dragon. In order to win the round, you will need to eliminate the enemy team’s dragon, but with victory depending on team synergy, adaptation, and most of all, coordination, Dragon Arena sounds a lot easier than it actually is.
BYTEWORLD is the “ultimate sandbox experience” with aims to bring streamers and viewers together like never before. By interacting and engaging with your community using traditional livestreaming, you will be able to invite your viewers to talk with you in real-time using VR. With integrated mini-games and optional voice chat, this game could go one of two ways, but it is up to you to find out.
If you are looking for a 2D pixel-platformer, then you will love Guns & Thorns. Featuring stunning pixel art, this title will see you fight through hordes of bandits and powerful bosses in fast-paced combat. Set in a Wild West-inspired world, you will soon discover the secrets lurking throughout the dust-laden land, and most importantly, retrieve what was once stolen from you.
Last but not least is Ling and the Corrupted Hollow, a 3D platformer set in the mythical world of a lost paradise. Players will take on the role of Ling as she cleanses her home of spirits in a third-person puzzle platforming experience. With the spirits at your side, you will need to discover the four soul shards and restore balance to the corruption which threatens to overtake the hollow.
