As if straight out of a horror movie, a Stardew Valley player was terrorized by a cursed mannequin they accidentally brought into their home. For a relaxing farming life sim, Stardew Valley has its creepy moments, and this spooky surprise was no exception.
Redditor Sandosa posted a cry for help on the Stardew Valley subreddit, asking the community for advice with their cursed mannequin. The Stardew Valley community is known for lending a helping hand and sharing secrets and tips for making the most of the game. As it turned out, the cursed mannequin had haunted many players who made the unfortunate mistake of bringing it back home. They had plenty to say about the cursed mannequins who had caused havoc in their own games.
This Stardew Valley Decor Might Be Haunted…
Apparently, The Mannequin Is A Theif Too
Keeping with the horror movie comparison, Sandosa explained that the mannequin was innocuous for two weeks, but then it began to move around inexplicably. The mannequin moved itself further and further out of reach and stole the player’s clothes, and like any good horror story, the haunted mannequin was never caught in the act. Sandosa shared a picture of their Stardew Valley farmer half-naked and unable to reach the mannequin that moved to the high ground of the house. Their predicament is reminiscent of Fallout 4‘s mannequins who are seemingly alive and popping up in unexpected places too.

Stardew Valley may be the gold standard when it comes to indie farming sims, but there are fortunately plenty of games that match it in quality.
Luckily for Sandosa, the rest of the Stardew Valley community was familiar with this haunted mannequin and offered their help. Redditor Dr_Manta shared their experience with the haunted mannequin and explained that Sandosa could keep whacking the mannequin with an upgraded hoe to hit it from a distance. The mannequin would then drop a piece of clothing with each hit until it broke. Thankfully, this worked for Sandosa who was incredibly grateful for Dr_Manta’s help. With the mayhem this haunted mannequin brought to Stardew Valley, perhaps ConcernedApe’s next game, Haunted Chocolatier, will live up to the haunted part of its title.
Our Take: Even Though Things Get Spooky, Stardew Valley Brings Some Funny Moments
Comedy and Horror Go Hand-in-hand After All
This isn’t the first instance of a Stardew Valley player getting a terrifying surprise in the game. One fan almost screamed when their pig discovered the horrific-looking truffle crabs, which were added to the 1.6 update for Stardew Valley. Again, while gross and shocking, it’s not something straight out of Resident Evil, in fact, it became a moment for players to laugh at and encouraged exploration of other strange quirks hiding in the game.
With the strong community developer ConcernedApe’s hit game has created, moments like this one with the haunted mannequins are a reminder that the social aspect of Stardew Valley heightens the joy players get. Players don’t just share their surprising moments and make jokes, but also their silly moments, like one Stardew Valley player who went underdressed to the Flower Festival and took all the jokes in good faith. Other fans still offered tips for making better clothes, like the players who gave Sandosa advice to combat their haunted mannequin. Overall, it’s these small moments that fuel Stardew Valley‘s ever-growing popularity.
