‘South Park’s Trey Parker Offers Deadpan Response to Donald Trump at Comic-Con

‘South Park’s Trey Parker Offers Deadpan Response to Donald Trump at Comic-Con

South Park creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone appeared at Comic-Con after their show’s Season 27 premiere aired. The episode, titled “Sermon on the Mount,” took jabs at US President Donald Trump, and, as is expected, the White House hit back at the series. During their appearance at Comic-Con, where they also received the Inkpot Award for Best Animation, Parker and Stone participated in a panel discussion alongside Beavis and Butthead creator Mike Judge and Digman! co-creator Andy Samberg. Of course, the topic of the new episode and the White House’s response were addressed.

Highlights of the Season 27 premiere episode included a scene where Trump complained about the size of his penis in an official painting, followed by an attempt to get into bed with Satan. The episode also featured Satan finally confronting Trump about long-standing rumors of his inclusion on the Epstein list. The White House was quick to respond, issuing a statement slamming the series:

“This show hasn’t been relevant for over 20 years and is hanging on by a thread with uninspired ideas in a desperate attempt for attention. President Trump has delivered on more promises in just six months than any other president in our country’s history – and no fourth-rate show can derail President Trump’s hot streak.”

‘South Park’ Fans Fight Back Against “Banned” Episodes With Petition to Paramount+

Fans have launched a petition pushing for Paramount+ to include all episodes of the series when it joins the platform in July.

When asked about the White House’s reaction during the Comic-Con panel (via Deadline), Parker, with his deadpan humor, joked:

“We’re terribly sorry.”

During the discussion, Parker also shared some insight into the episode’s surprisingly last-minute creation.

“We were like, ‘I don’t know if people are going to like this.’ We were reading stuff in the newspaper, and were like, ‘Let’s put that in there!'”

‘South Park’ Takes Aim at ‘Late Show’ Cancellation

“Sermon on the Mount” also addressed CBS’ recent controversial decision to cancel The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. In a scene where Trump tries to sue the town of South Park, Jesus makes an appearance to advise them to settle, asking:

“You guys saw what happened to CBS? Do you really want to end up like Colbert?”

This line resonates with recent, significant developments for Paramount Global, the parent company of Paramount+ and CBS. The latest South Park episode on Paramount+ premiered shortly after the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) approved Paramount Global’s merger with Skydance Media. This approval followed Paramount Global’s agreement to pay $16 million to settle a legal dispute with Donald Trump, stemming from a CBS interview with former Vice President Kamala Harris.

This week, Paramount-owned CBS announced that The Late Show with Stephen Colbert will conclude in May 2026, after a 33-year run. While CBS maintains that The Late Show’s cancellation is purely financial, some believe that Colbert’s public criticism of Paramount Global’s lawsuit settlement with the President, combined with his outspokenness (he is one of Trump’s most vocal critics on late-night television), may have influenced the decision to end the popular late-night show.

The South Park episode premiered on Paramount+ shortly after Stone and Parker signed a massive five-year deal with the streamer. Going forward, Season 27 episodes will first air on Comedy Central before becoming available on Paramount+ the day after. The agreement not only secures the global streaming rights for all 26 previous seasons of South Park but also includes 50 new episodes. That’s not too bad for a “fourth-rate” show that’s been on air since 1997.
