Slot on Liverpool’s away form: Too early to judge

Liverpool head coach Arne Slot takes a realistic perspective regarding the team’s strong away form so far during this season. Slot highlighted that Liverpool have not played many teams from the top half of the table to earn positive judgment.

Liverpool have won 22 out of 26 games in all competitions this season, enjoying a strong balance in playing style. Slot has emphasised maintaining the focus on the balance between risk and reward factors, prioritizing both the defence and offence.

Furthermore, Liverpool have reduced their problems with complacency that haunted the club last season, costing them titles at the end. The Reds struggled with a complacent performance against Nottingham Forest at Anfield, suffering their only loss so far this season.

Furthermore, they showed a similar complacent mindset after going 1-5 up against Tottenham Hotspur in the away Premier League game. The Reds conceded two goals in the second half against Spurs before regaining their composure to score their sixth goal.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference (via Liverpoolfc.com) before the West Ham United game, Slot used his realistic perspective to judge the away form of Liverpool so far. He said:

“I think our away form has been good but maybe it has a bit to do with the teams you face in the first half of the season. So, I think mainly we have faced the teams in the top half of the table at home and the other ones we faced away, so that might have something to do with it. We are strong away from home and at home as well. So, I don’t see any reason why we are stronger there than here, [it’s] something we can best judge at the end of the season if we have played every team home and away, to see what fits us best. But I think we are a difficult team to beat away from home as in our home games.”

Slot has assessed the team’s away form well, emphasising the need to stay humble despite their success. The Reds cannot head into these games with the idea that the three points are inevitable.
