Ryan Reynolds Did Not Want to Reprise Deadpool Role Amid Blake Lively ‘It Ends With Us’ Lawsuit

Ryan Reynolds
has hinted at the impact that Blake Lively
and Justin Baldoni’s It Ends With Us
toxic workplace revelations have had on the couple, making note in a new Instagram post raising awareness of his and Lively’s campaign with the children’s charity Sick Kids Hospital. In the post reminding people that it is still not too late to donate, Reynolds mentioned that he took part in the ad campaign – in which he reprises his role as Deadpool – at a time when he “really didn’t feel like putting the suit on.”

The news that Lively is suing her costar Baldoni broke over the weekend, and has been the subject of intense media scrutiny ever since. Since the initial reports surfaced, social media users have had their say on the matter – both for Lively and against her – and a number of Hollywood stars, and It Ends With Us studio, Sony Pictures, have come out in support of Lively’s claims. Meanwhile, Baldoni’s lawyers have been vehemently defending their client against the allegations, and the publicist at the center of the alleged “smear campaign” has also spoken out.

While Reynolds has not directly addressed the matter, his new post clearly shows that the burden of the impending filing of the lawsuit has been present for a while, as he filmed his new video last month. His new post in full reads:

“It’s almost Christmas Eve. Last day to donate to [Sick Kids Hospital]. [Blake Lively] and I are matching any donation to $500k. This organization is a sanctuary for so many kids and their parents traversing the unimaginable. Thank you [Bryan Rowland]for directing this amazing little piece during a time I really didn’t feel like putting the suit on. Thank you [Lynda Carter] for your time, grace and talent. Thank you to my daughter for being such a good person despite your dad asking you to swear (for a good cause).”

Blake Lively’s Lawsuit is Just Getting Started

The recent revelation that Lively is suing Baldoni for sexual harassment and “severe emotional distress” has followed months of speculation and reports of a toxic environment on the set of It Ends With Us. While the exact nature of the issue was unclear at the time, leading to many slamming Lively for her less than enthusiastic approach to her interviews in support of the movie, everything is now out in the open for anyone to share an opinion on. And they have.

Currently, everything surrounding the case is in a state of flux. Other than statements through his lawyer denying all allegations, Baldoni has not broken his silence on the matter. However, he has been dropped by his WME agency in the wake of the lawsuit being filed, and has not been getting the same level of support as Lively from others who worked on the movie, and, of course, Sony itself.

Blake Lively’s lawsuit against Justin Baldoni has drawn plenty of conflicting opinions online as the controversy around the movie continues.

There is still a long way to go in this case before all the facts are known, but from the outset, it appears that Lively is gaining a lot of support from all sides, and that can make a big difference in the court of public opinion.
