Ladies and gents, this is the moment you’ve waited for… Deadpool & Wolverine (with its hilarious reference to The Greatest Showman and all) is now available to stream on Disney+ – and, of course, it has immediately become the most streamed movie on the platform. Having smashed records during its theatrical run, added to the tally on its VOD release last month, and continued to dominate news headlines despite being released four months ago, it is not surprising that the film is doing it all over again as part of the MCU’s Disney+ catalog.
Fans have been waiting patiently to see Deadpool dancing to N*Sync and Henry Cavill making his extremely brief cameo as Wolverine, and they have shown their appreciation by sending the movie stratospheric once again. There is no doubt that there will be certain scenes being replayed over and over, whether your thing is looking at two grown men dressed in costumes beating the living quips out of each other, or watching the squeaky clean Chris Evans unleashing one of the most brutal foul-mouthed rants of his career, there is something for everyone here as long as you aren’t easily offended.
Deadpool & Wolverine was always expected to be a savior of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s failing power to dominate theaters, and it certainly did not disappoint with a $1.3 billion box office. As well as that, the cameo-laden, self-referencing, super-violent sequel delivered incredible reviews from both critics and audiences to make the film as close to a perfect Marvel movie as you are ever likely to see this side of the multiverse.
What’s Next For Deadpool & Wolverine?
The biggest question for fans of bother Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds is when their respective characters of Wolverine and Deadpool – yes, let’s mix the order up a bit – will be back in the MCU for their next adventure. Last week, Kevin Feige addressed this very question as he prepared to take the stage at D23 Brazil, and gave a vague but promising outlook for the dynamic Marvel duo. He said:
“The plans with Deadpool and Wolverine will always be the same: we are always wondering where we can fit them, and how fast.”
Naturally, there is a belief that both characters will make some kind of appearance in Avengers: Secret Wars, along with potentially every other character from Marvel past, present and future. But that doesn’t mean this is the only chance we have of seeing the pair again in the MCU. As long as the multiverse remains in play, there are literally no boundaries in the way of characters dropping in on stories they really shouldn’t be a part of.

But, despite the incredible urge to throw a little Deadpool & Wolverine into everything, Feige clearly doesn’t want to overuse their pair of golden geese in a way that ends up killing their popularity. However, thanks to the magic of company mergers, fans can now catch up with all the previous adventures of Deadpool and Wolverine on Disney+ – and they have certainly been doing that as the original Deadpool movie is already charting high on the platform. Perhaps they should just rename it Deadpool+ for a while.
