Ryan Murphy’s ‘The Beauty’ Full Official Trailer Released

Ryan Murphy is up to his old tricks with his upcoming series The Beauty, which looks to blend disturbing subject matter with stylish storytelling, as confirmed in an official trailer for the FX series. Based on the Image Comics title of the same name, The Beauty will explore the lengths that people are willing to go to in order to become beautiful, with Ashton Kutcher playing a figure who promises to somehow make STDs sexy. You can check out the full trailer for the series below before it premieres on FX on Jan. 21.

“In FX’s The Beauty, the world of high fashion turns dark when international supermodels begin dying in gruesome and mysterious ways. FBI Agents Cooper Madsen (Evan Peters) and Jordan Bennett (Rebecca Hall) are sent to Paris to uncover the truth. As they delve deeper into the case, they uncover a sexually transmitted virus that transforms ordinary people into visions of physical perfection, but with terrifying consequences. Their path leads them directly into the crosshairs of ‘The Corporation’ (Ashton Kutcher), a shadowy tech billionaire who has secretly engineered a miracle drug dubbed ‘The Beauty,’ who will do anything to protect his trillion-dollar empire—including unleashing his lethal enforcer, ‘The Assassin’ (Anthony Ramos). It’s hard to believe, given his more unsettling efforts in recent years, that Ryan Murphy broke onto the scene largely thanks to the musical sitcom Glee, though his Nip/Tuck scratched the surface of darker storytelling sensibilities prior to that. When he unleashed his American Horror Story in 2011, he kicked off an impressive run of many more macabre experiences. Over the last 15 years, series like Scream Queens, Ratched, American Horror Stories, Monster, The Watcher, and Grotesquerie have won over audiences and critics alike.

Murphy’s talents aren’t relegated to the horror world, however, as American Crime Story, Pose, 9-1-1, and Feud have all made their mark on viewers. Most recently, Murphy unveiled the legal drama All’s Fair, which has been renewed for a Season 2 despite lackluster reviews.

One consistency for Murphy, no matter what the genre might be, is that he brings in all-star talent to tell his stories, and The Beauty is no exception. The new show stars Kutcher, Evan Peters, Rebecca Hall, Anthony Ramos, and Jeremy Pope.
