Folarin Balogun and Haji Wright both scored goals for their respective clubs this weekend and Ricardo Pepi added his name to the list on Saturday.
Pepi scored PSV’s winning goal on Saturday in a 2-1 comeback victory over visiting AZ Alkmaar. It marked third goal of 2026 and his 14th of the season in all competitions.
Billy van Duijl gave the visitors a shock 1-0 lead after 13 minutes at the Philips Stadion, forcing PSV to come from behind to take all three points.
A Troy Parrott own goal leveled things for Peter Bosz’s men before halftime ahead of Pepi’s go-ahead goal with four minutes to play. Ivan Perisic’s headed pass from the left side of Alkmaar’s box allowed Pepi to volley home into the roof of the net.
Pepi played 88 minutes in the victory, helping PSV move 20 points clear atop the Eredivisie standings.
“I am very happy that I was able to play 90 minutes and also scored,” Pepi said postmatch in a club interview. “It feels good to be back and to contribute to this important victory at home.
“Of course [this season] has been frustrating due to injuries and therefore I had to be patient, but I got myself through,” he added.
Fellow U.S. men’s national team player Sergino Dest left the match after 57 minutes with an apparent hamstring injury.
PSV will face NEC Nijmegen and Telstar in its final two matches before the international break later this month.
