Report, result, goals in Championship

Kieffer Moore scored a second-half hat-trick as Wrexham came from behind to become the first team in the Championship to beat leaders Coventry City this season with victory at the Stok Cae Ras.

Ephron Mason-Clark put the visitors on course for a seventh consecutive win by opening the scoring in the 22nd minute, meeting Tatsuhiro Sakamoto’s cross with a cool half-volley inside the box.

New signing Moore pounced from two crosses and a through-ball by Josh Windass, sliding in to equalise in the 60th minute and heading in unmarked nine minutes later, then firing in the final goal from a tight angle to ensure City’s 12-match unbeaten start to the campaign came to an end.

Sakamoto’s excellent strike from the edge of the box two minutes from time gave Coventry hope, but Wrexham held on to go unbeaten in four home league matches and rise to 11th, two points off the play-offs after playing a game more than the teams above them.

Coventry are three points clear of second-placed Middlesbrough, who play their game in hand at Watford on Saturday, and five above Millwall, the team immediately outside of the automatic promotion places in the race to reach the Premier League.
