Released Newcastle striker does Isak celebration after scoring on Baller League debut

A recently release former Mag paid homage to Newcastle United talisman Alexander Isak after scoring in the new ‘Baller League UK’ this week.

The Baller League is a six-a-side tournament that features ex-pros, free agents, futsal stars and celebrities making its debut in England after success in Germany.

It has provided an opportunity for a forward who was released by Newcastle in the summer that has gone on to drop to step five of English football to show his talents on a big stage.

Michael Ndiweni scored on Sky Sports after being released by Toon in 2024 and struggling to find a club.

The 21-year-old was given a pro deal for the Mags in 2022, made his Premier League debut in 2023 and watched on from the bench as we drew one-all with PSG in the Champions League.

However, it’s been a tough period for the striker since his release last summer, seeing him drop first to step four Ashington, then to Northern League Newcastle Blue Star as no EFL move materialised.

Hopefully the Baller League provides an opportunity for Ndiweni to showcase his talents and get himself back into the Football League to reignite his career. Watch his impressive strike and familiar celebration below:

He certainly took the opportunity as best as he could on the first day of the competition, smashing a powerful strike into the roof of net from a tight angle.

Ciaran Clark, who has been without a team since leaving Stoke City in July, is also taking part in the Baller League, playing for Luis Figo’s Trebol FC.

There are several recognisable names with a letter of pros in the competition: Jordon Ibe, Adrian Mariappa, Henri Lansbury, Bakary Sako, Michael Hector, Josh Harrop, Bruno Andrade, Jerome Sinclair, Marvin Sordell, will all display their talent in the six-a-side tourney.

Alan Shearer is also involved, managing ‘Deportrio’ alongside The Rest Is Football co-hosts Micah Richards and Gary Lineker.
