Release Window, Cast, Plot, and Everything We Know

Daredevil will return, just not in Avengers: Doomsday. After cameos in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Echo and guest roles on She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and Hawkeye, Daredevil, and The Kingpin finally returned to the Marvel Cinematic Universe six years after their original hit series was canceled by Netflix. Daredevil: Born Again premiered on Mar. 4, 2025, and despite some significant behind-the-scenes changes that reworked the entire series, fans were largely happy with the series’ return.

This all set the stage for Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. The upcoming season will not only pick up on Wilson Fisk declaring war on the vigilantes and Matt Murdock’s crusade as Daredevil to fight for justice, which sees the return of old allies, like fellow Defender Jessica Jones. Daredevil: Born Again will be released in Marvel Studios’ epic 2026 slate with an anticipated date of March 4, 2026, though there is some uncertainty on the matter. It will be followed up by feature films like Spider-Man: Brand New Day and Avengers: Doomsday, as well as Disney+ series like Wonder Man, Vision Quest, and X-Men ’97 Season 2. Here is everything to know about Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.

‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 2’s Release Date is Currently Uncertain

Disney

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will be part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase 6. As of this writing, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 does not have a set premiere date. It was originally believed the series would premiere on Mar. 4, 2026, the same date as Season 1 back in 2025. The Mar. 4, 2026 date might have been an error on Disney’s part, as since then any reference to a release date has been pulled from Disney’s publicity sites.

With Avengers: Doomsday moving from May to December 2026, Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has a much longer release window for when it could drop. It is expected to be released in the spring, so it could be anywhere between March and May. March would be one year from when Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 premiered. Mar. 18, 2026, would be ten years to the date that Daredevil Season 2 debuted on Netflix. Marvel could keep their tradition of releasing a title the first week of May by debuting Daredevil: Born Again, concluding in mid-June, and giving plenty of runway before Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on Jul. 31, 2026.

Currently, the only thing known is that Daredevil: Born Again will debut after Wonder Man drops on Disney+ on January 27. More details about Daredevil: Born Again and when Season 2 will debut are likely to arrive after Wonder Man airs and has its moment in the spotlight. Whatever Daredevil: Born Again does premiere, it won’t be the final adventure of The Man without Fear. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 has already been confirmed, with the season set to air in 2027. Daredevil: Born Again Season 3 will likely air before Avengers: Secret Wars gives the MCU a soft relaunch.

Confirmation & Filming

When Marvel Studios first announced they were reviving Daredevil as a Disney+ series titled Daredevil: Born Again in 2022, their plan was originally for an 18-episode first season. However, following the creative overhaul of Daredevil: Born Again, in which Matt Corman and Chris Ord were replaced as the series’s showrunners by Dario Scardapane, the plan changed. The original 18-episode order for one season was split into two seasons of nine episodes each. In February 2025, Scardapane confirmed that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 had been shortened to eight episodes.

Filming for Season 2 began on Feb. 28, 2025, five days before Season 1 debuted on Disney+. Filming for Season 2 wrapped on Jul. 9, 2025. Scardapne returns as the showrunner and is joined by Season 1 writers Grainne Godfree, Heather Bellson, and Jesse Wigutow, alongside newcomers Chantelle Wells and Omar Najam. Justin Benson and Aaron Moore, who directed the retooled first episode and final two episodes of Born Again Season 1, are returning for Season 2. Benson and Moore, who previously directed Moon Knight and Loki Season 2, will be joined by directors Michael Cuesta, Jeffrey Nachmanoff, and David Boyd.

Charlie Cox and Vincent D’Onofrio will reprise their roles as Matt Murdock / Daredevil and Wilson Fisk / The Kingpin, respectively. Deborah Ann Woll, who was added back into the reshot Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 episodes, will have a larger role in Season 2. Despite his character having died in the first episode of Daredevil: Born Again, Elden Hudson will somehow return as Foggy Nelson. Wilson Bethel and Ayelet Zurer will reprise their roles as Benjamin “Dex” Poindexter / Bullseye and Vanessa Fisk, respectively.

Much of the new cast introduced in Daredevil: Born Again will return for Season 2. This includes Margarita Levieva as Heather Glenn, Nikki M. James as Kirsten McDuffie, Genneya Walton as BB Urich, Michael Gandolfini as Daniel Blake, Arty Froushan as Buck Cashman, Zabryna Guevara as Sheila Rivera, Clark Johnson as Cherry, and Rubio Qian as Detective Angie Kim. In addition, Tony Dalton will reprise his role as Jack Duquesne / Swordsman, after first appearing in Hawkeye.

In terms of new cast members, Scream and Scooby-Doo actor Matthew Lillard has joined the cast as a character named Mr. Charles, which is described as a small role but one Lillard hopes can return in future projects. Emmy nominee Lili Taylor has been cast as Marge McCaffrey, the governor of New York and a political opponent to Wilson Fisk. Sydney Parra, Annie Parisse, and James Armstrong have been cast in undisclosed roles.

The biggest revelation about Daredevil: Born Again is that Krysten Ritter will be reprising her role as Jessica Jones, last seen in her own titular series, which ended in June 2019. Rumors have circulated that Mike Colter might return as Luke Cage, though nothing has been confirmed. One returning cast member from Daredevil’s Netflix days is actor Royce Johnson, who will reprise his role as police sergeant Brett Mahoney.

One former ally of Daredevil who won’t be returning, though, is Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle / The Punisher. Despite Bernthal appearing in Daredevil: Born Again Season 1 in two episodes, where he was last seen captured and then escaping Fisk’s political prisoner jail, Bernthal’s Punisher storyline will be picked up instead in a Marvel Special Presentation. It is unclear whether the Special Presentation will debut before or after Daredevil: Born Again Season 2. Bernthal will then reprise his role as The Punisher in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 is going to pick up shortly after the aftermath of Season 1, with Wilson Fisk declaring martial law on the city of New York and a ban on any crime-fighting vigilantes. This will lead Matt Murdock / Daredevil to form a resistance, including many of his allies. Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will also be happening concurrently with the events of the Punisher Special Presentation.

Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will also see Daredevil don a new costume inspired by the one the character wore in the Shadowlands comic. The new Daredevil suit will be black with a red “double D” chest emblem, the first time in the MCU that Daredevil has worn his signature logo. Bulleye will also get a new costume similar to his comic counterpart.

Krysten Ritter has teased that Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 will tease what Jessica Jones has been up to in the seven years since audiences last saw her. She has hinted at a few “surprises” and also that she has talked with Marvel Television about continuing Jessica Jones’ story. Meanwhile, the creative team behind Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 has been in contact with the team behind Spider-Man: Brand New Day to ensure events line up, though it is unclear whether Spider-Man: Brand New Day will take place during or after the events of Daredevil: Born Again Season 2.
