Samara Weaving leads an all-star cast in the first trailer for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come. The sequel follows the 2019 horror comedy hit that saw Weaving’s Grace marry into a wealthy family, with her wedding night turning into a deadly game. The trailer for the sequel opens with the ending of Ready or Not, seeing Grace sitting in her blood-soaked wedding dress awaiting the authorities, the sole survivor of the family’s children’s game turned deadly.
Ready or Not 2 picks up right where the last film left off, seeing Grace handcuffed to a hospital bed, set to deal with the consequences of how her wedding night played out. She finds herself taken to another lavish mansion, rife with ominous imagery, where Grace is told that because she survived the last game, a new one awaits that sees four families out to hunt her down. However, when Grace refuses to play, the stakes are raised with the introduction of her sister Faith, who is brought into the deadly game. Now the two must fight to survive another twisted plot as an ensemble of eccentric, maniacal personalities stalk them. The synopsis for Ready or Not 2: Here I Come reads:
Moments after surviving an all-out attack from the Le Domas family, Grace discovers she’s reached the next level of the nightmarish game — and this time with her estranged sister Faith at her side. Grace has one chance to survive, keep her sister alive, and claim the High Seat of the Council that controls the world. Four rival families are hunting her for the throne, and whoever wins rules it all.
Weaving returns to the role of Grace, with Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania star Kathryn Kewton joining the cast as her sister Faith. Those putting the sisters through the nightmare scenario feature a stellar cast, including Elijah Wood, Sarah Michelle, Gellar, Shawn Hatosy, Nestor Carbonell, Kevin Durand, and director David Cronenberg. Directors Tyler Gillett and Matt Bettinelli-Olpin return to helm the film after the success of Scream (2022) and Scream VI. Ready or Not 2: Here I Come is slated to hit theaters on April 10, 2026.
‘Ready or Not 2’ Promises Fallout From the First Film
Ready or Not saw Samara Weaving forced to fight for survival, dispatching her wealthy pursuers in bloody and often humorous ways. The movie found success thanks to a mix of tension-filled scares and funny moments to defuse the intensity. The ending also leaned into consequences from forces outside the control of Grace and the family hunting her, seeing them die off in one final moment that added complexity and meaning to the true stakes of the game she was playing.
As with any sequel, Ready or Not 2 looks to up the ante with four families rather than one, and with the introduction of Grace’s sister. Still, it embraces a story that deals with the direct consequences of the first film. The sequel could have followed a new protagonist or family, but it instead found an amusing new way to allow the violent and comedic elements to carry the sequel forward. The addition of the cast also speaks to the quality of the lauded horror film, which currently holds an 89% on Rotten Tomatoes.
