The Baltimore Ravens have agreed to sign defensive end Trey Hendrickson – after earlier pulling out of a move for Las Vegas Raiders player Maxx Crosby.
The Raiders announced the Ravens had pulled out of a deal and while there was no official reason given, sources told ESPN it was due to concerns around five-time Pro Bowl pass rusher Crosby’s physical.
The Baltimore club have now moved for Hendrickson, who is a free agent after leaving the Cincinnati Bengals.
ESPN say Hendrickson has a agreed to a four-year, $112 million deal that can be worth up to $120 million with incentives.
The deal includes $60 million fully guaranteed and a $20 million signing bonus.
Hendrickson was injured at the end of last season but the Indianapolis Colts, Buffalo Bills, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Washington Commanders and Philadelphia Eagles were all also reportedly interested in signing him as a free agent.
The Ravens missed the playoffs last season after ending with an 8-9 record in the AFC North.
Why did the Crosby trade collapse?
Crosby had already said his farewells in Vegas and outlined his excitement in moving to Baltimore on a three-year, $94million contract with the Raiders due to receive two first-round picks in exchange.
He said on Saturday: “I know there’s no guarantees in this. But I’m going to give everything in my heart and soul to bring a championship to Baltimore. There are no more words needed for that.”
“I’m so excited. I cannot wait to get out to the city and meet everybody.”
The 28-year-old had knee surgery in January but his agent insisted rehab was firmly on schedule in a statement on X.
CJ LaBoy wrote: “Maxx continues to be on track in his recovery and if anything is ahead of schedule, according to his surgeon Dr. Neal El Attrache.
“Maxx remains on track to return during the offseason program & will undoubtedly return as the dominant game wrecker he has been these past seven seasons.”
