Prime Video Renews ‘Invincible’ for Season 5 Ahead of Season 4 Premiere

Invincible fans have a lot to celebrate this morning, as even though Season 4 of Prime Video‘s hit animated superhero series isn’t expected to return until next year, it’s just been renewed for Season 5. Created by Robert Kirkman and based on the comic series of the same name he brought to life with Cory Walker and Ryan Ottley, Invincible follows the exploits of young Mark Grayson, a teenager whose father happens to be the most powerful superhero on the planet. As he comes to terms with the emergence of his own powers, he discovers his father’s legacy may not be as heroic as it seems.

Per Deadline, Prime Video has officially given the go-ahead for Invincible Season 5, which was a no-brainer when you consider that Season 3 became their most watched animation season of all time. It recently scored a Primetime Emmy Award nomination for Outstanding Character Voice-Over Performance (Steven Yeun), marking the second year in a row it has been nominated in that category, following Sterling K. Brown’s nomination last year.

Starring the likes of not only Yeun but Sandra Oh, J.K. Simmons, Seth Rogen, Walton Goggins, Gillian Jacobs, Jason Mantzoukas, Zazie Beetz, Grey DeLisle, and Zachary Quinto, Prime Video also announced that Matthew Rhys will join in on the fun in the upcoming season. No stranger to voice acting, the former Perry Mason star recently appeared as Nite Owl in the two-part animated Watchmen movie, and as Ghost in John Krasinski’s IF. He also took on the role of Riley Greene in the animated HBO Max hit Gremlins, and has appeared in BoJack Horseman, Archer, and The Wingfeather Saga.

More to come…
