Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs. Wolves in the FA Cup as Reds Offered Immediate Redemption Chance at Molineux

Predicted Liverpool Lineup vs. Wolves in the FA Cup as Reds Offered Immediate Redemption Chance at Molineux

Liverpool will take on Wolves on the 6th of March at Molineux Stadium.

Liverpool face Wolves for the second time in four days, this time in the FA Cup fifth round on Friday night. The Reds are desperate to bounce back from their shock 2-1 Premier League defeat at Molineux on Tuesday, when Andre’s 94th-minute winner secured Wolves’ first back-to-back wins since April 2025.

Following that frustrating loss, Liverpool sit fifth in the Premier League table with 48 points from 29 games. They are three points behind fourth-placed Manchester United and Aston Villa. The defeat ended a three-match winning streak and exposed Liverpool’s defensive frailties once again. Arne Slot’s side have massively underperformed expectations after winning the title last season and strengthening heavily in the summer.

Their opponents, Wolves, are rooted to the bottom of the table but arrive with growing confidence. The Old Gold have won their last two league matches after beating Aston Villa 2-0 and Liverpool 2-1. Despite the recent upturn, relegation still appears almost certain, with Wolves trailing 17th-placed Nottingham Forest by 12 points with just eight matches to play. The FA Cup offers a welcome distraction, with Wolves having beaten Shrewsbury Town 6-1 and Grimsby Town 1-0 to reach the fifth round.

That said, here is how Liverpool could lineup against Wolves.

Predicted Liverpool lineup vs. Wolves

Goalkeeper: Alisson Becker

The Brazilian continues between the sticks despite Liverpool’s struggles. Alisson will need to be sharper than Tuesday’s showing if Liverpool are to progress.

Defence: Andrew Robertson, Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk, Ibrahima Konate

Slot could look to make numerous changes in search of a response to the defeat. Andrew Robertson could come in at left-back for Milos Kerkez, while Joe Gomez may start at right-back. Van Dijk and Konate should continue their centre-back partnership. Conor Bradley and Giovanni Leoni remain sidelined with injuries.

Midfield: Curtis Jones, Ryan Gravenberch, Alexis Mac Allister

Curtis Jones could start after only coming on as a substitute against Wolves on Tuesday. The Englishman offers energy and creativity in the midfield. Gravenberch continues in the deeper role, controlling rhythm without slowing the tempo. Mac Allister partners him, providing ball progression and defensive cover.

Attack: Mohamed Salah, Hugo Ekitike, Cody Gakpo, Rio Ngumoha

Mohamed Salah scored Liverpool’s consolation goal on Tuesday and remains crucial to their attacking play. Hugo Ekitike will lead the line. The Frenchman grabbed a brace against Newcastle recently and has recorded over 2.5 shots in five consecutive Premier League home games. Cody Gakpo occupies the left wing, offering pace and directness. Rio Ngumoha could be handed a start on the right, with Slot looking to freshen things up. Florian Wirtz, Stefan Bajcetic and Alexander Isak all remain sidelined through injury.
