Ozzy Osbourne Laid to Rest After Funeral

Ozzy Osbourne’s family, friends and fans are coming together to say goodbye.

The Black Sabbath frontman, who died July 22 at age 76 after a years-long battle with Parkinson’s disease, was laid to rest July 31 following a procession in his hometown of Birmingham, England, July 30.

He was buried during a private funeral at his Buckinghamshire home surrounded by his family and fellow musicians including Zakk Wylde and Marilyn Manson, according to multiple outlets.

During the public proceedings, Ozzy’s body was transported via hearse to the city’s Black Sabbath bridge and bench, where fans left flowers and messages for the Prince of Darkness. The procession, which was attended by his wife Sharon Osbourne and her kids Aimee Osbourne, Kelly Osbourne and Jack Osbourne, as well as Ozzy’s son Louis Osbourne, was also accompanied by a live brass band consisting of local artists as well as singer Yungblud and members of Black Sabbath.

“It was important to the city that we support a fitting, dignified tribute ahead of a private family funeral,” Birmingham mayor Zafar Iqbal told reporters. “We know how much this moment will mean to his fans.”

Ozzy’s family—who covered the costs of the public memorial, according to a release from Birmingham City Council—shared the news of his passing earlier this month, noting that while they were filled “with more sadness than mere words can convey,” their beloved patriarch “was with his family and surrounded by love” when he died.
