Pope (7) – Could do nothing about the goal but was largely untroubled throughout. Looked more dominant from crosses and thankfully caught rather than punched!
Livramento (8) – Fantastic performance in both attack and defence. Gave Hudson-Odoi nothing all game and played a big role in Joelinton’s goal with the overlapping run.
Schar (7) – Along with Burn, handled the in-form Chris Wood really well. Typically tidy in possession and looked to get us back on the front foot quickly.
Burn (6.5) – Headed plenty away but unfortunately picked up a booking which rules him out of the next match. Looked uncomfortable when Forest countered, but coped OK in the end.
Hall (8) – Celebrated his England call up with another complete performance. Set pieces were poor and needs to improve that area of his game, but he read the play well and looked confident in possession.
Longstaff (7) – No coincidence that when he plays, we win. Allows other players to shine and does the unfashionable off the ball stuff that largely goes unnoticed. Limited in possession but that’s not why he’s being picked.
Guimaraes (8) – Helped us dominate possession in the first half, pulled the strings throughout and stepped up with a captains knock in the second. Unlucky not to score with an audacious outside of the foot effort and worked his socks off.
Willock (7.5) – Conceded the free kick which led to the goal, but offered good penetrating runs in the first half; where he looked our biggest threat as he broke forward from the left and linked up well. Ran out of legs and was replaced by Tonali.
Gordon (6) – Found it difficult to get into the game and was switched from the right to his preferred left wing position. Yet to hit the heights of last season.
Joelinton (8.5) – Much more like it from Big Joe. Put a shift in all game and was a constant threat. Performance capped off with a sublime left footed finish.
Isak (7.5) – Four in four games for a suddenly in form striker! Scored without ever really being too involved in the play before his goal, but showed great strikers instincts to bury his chance and played the pass to Joelinton for our second.
Subs:
Tonali (7) – Great impact off the bench, adding energy and pace on the counter. Showed his class and got a deserved assist for Barnes.
Barnes (7.5) – Looked much more of a threat than Gordon and finished well at the near post. Almost seems better suited to being an impact sub.
Osula (NR) – Came on with seconds to play.
