Manchester United goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has sealed a loan exit to League Two side Shrewsbury Town for the 2025/26 season.
Harrison’s rise at United
Harrison joined United’s famed academy in 2022 from Stevenage. He has enjoyed a steady rise at Carrington, impressing with his goalkeeping qualities, including playing with the ball at his feet and incredible shot-stopping.
The 19-year-old played a key role in the Under-18s as they won a treble during the 2023/24 season. His performances that term earned him United’s Denzil Haroun Reserve-Team Player of the Year award.
An England youth international, Harrison spent the first half of last season on loan at non-league outfit Chester, keeping seven clean sheets in 18 appearances.
United recalled him for the latter half of 2024/25 to train with the first team and play for the Under-21s.
Harrison was named on the bench eight times by Ruben Amorim but was not given a run out.
A recent report covered by The Peoples Person relayed that Shrewsbury were closing on temporarily securing Harrison’s services and this has now been confirmed.
Shrewsbury sign Harrison
United released a statement which read, “Goalkeeper Elyh Harrison has joined Shrewsbury Town of League Two on loan for the 2025/26 season.”
“Good luck at New Meadow, Elyh!”
Shrewsbury’s director of football, Micky Moore, remarked, “I’m really excited that we’ve signed Elyh.”
“He’s someone we’ve targeted since last season ended and I think he’s got a bright future. We watched him play at Chester last year and continued to watch him when he went back to play for United’s under-21s.”
“We think he’s got all the right characteristics and that this could be a very good loan for him. Michael wanted to get him in the building as soon as possible, so I’m really happy to get it over the line because it was a tough process due to the amount of interest in the player.”
“But I want to thank Elyh and Man United for their help throughout. I’m excited to see how he develops throughout the season.”
Harrison also expressed his excitement at joining Shrewsbury.
