Following the statement from FC Barcelona confirming that Gavi was ruled out of tomorrow’s La Liga game against Rayo Vallecano, the Spanish Football Federation has confirmed his withdrawal from the national team squad.
Gavi was one of seven Barcelona players called up by Spain manager Luis de la Fuente for their upcoming matches against Bulgaria and Turkey in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
However, the 21-year-old prodigy suffered a knee injury in training on Friday. While there are fears that it might be a serious issue, the Blaugrana downplayed any worries, stating that it was only ‘discomfort’.
As such, the RFEF has confirmed that Gavi will not be a part of the Spain squad for their upcoming matches in September.

More clarity regarding Gavi’s injury and the severity of it is expected to emerge on Sunday or Monday, with Barcelona reportedly waiting for the midfielder’s swelling to go down before conducting further tests.
