‘Obsession’ Trailer Teases New Horror Thriller

The upcoming horror film Obsession has debuted a new trailer for the twisted tale, teasing the nightmare fuel fans have in store. The genre feature is written and directed by Curry Barker, who is known as a comedic force on YouTube thanks to videos like Milk & Serial, which racked up millions of views. Like many creatives from the comedy space, like Jordan Peele and Zach Cregger, Barker looks to have found a knack for horror, with Obsession serving as his directorial debut. Focus Features believed in Barker’s horror movie, paying $15 million for distribution rights, and the film is finally set to hit theaters on May 15.

Obsession stars Michael Johnston, Inde Navarrette, Cooper Tomlinson, Megan Lawless, and Andy Richter. The new teaser trailer delves further into the movie’s creepy plot, which sees a man going to extremes to finally land his crush, utilizing a mystical “One Wish Willow” to get what he wants. However, like so many stories about people being blind to the consequences of their actions, Obsession sees his happiness turn into a nightmare when the love of his life becomes a sinister presence in his life. Along with the new trailer on YouTube, Focus Features shared a short synopsis for Obsession, which reads:

After breaking the mysterious “One Wish Willow” to win his crush’s heart, a hopeless romantic finds himself getting exactly what he asked for but soon discovers that some desires come at a dark, sinister price.

Focus Features is also partnering with noted horror studio Blumhouse on Obsession, with Jason Blum serving as an executive producer. While the movie is still a few months away, Obsession has debuted at festivals, with critics already heaping praise on Barker’s directorial debut.

This is a developing story with more details to follow.
