Nick Jonas is set to star in a new action thriller from Gary Fleder, who previously directed the 2013 Jason Statham movie Homefront and James Patterson thriller Kiss the Girls back in 1997. Entitled Bodyman, the new movie is set to begin filming in June 2026 according to Deadline, and is written by Kingdom scribe, Byron Balasco.
Bodyman follows a violent struggle for power and, ultimately, survival that ensues during a family Christmas when an eccentric billionaire unexpectedly signs over his nepo-baby children’s expected inheritance of his private military company to his longtime bodyguard (Jonas). Who will make it out of their remote family estate alive?
“I’ve been developing this project for a while, and I’m excited to see it come to fruition,” Jonas said in a statement. “Re-teaming with Byron Balasco and director Gary Fleder also makes this project more special to me.”
Producer Jeffery Greenstein : “We are always looking for compelling stories that elevate the action genre, and it’s even more exciting when you pair a talent like Nick Jonas, with his deep commitment to the craft, alongside an incredible creative team to deliver a grounded and gripping film that audiences crave.”
The movie will be Fleder’s first feature film since Homefront, which itself has just been added to Netflix recently, while Jonas has previously starred in Jumanji: The Next Level and WW2 action thriller Midway.
Nick Jonas Is Returning to ‘Camp Rock’
Jonas’ new action role comes hot on the heels of the news that he and his brothers, Joe and Kevin, will be reuniting on screen to play the Gray brothers in a new Camp Rock movie. The trio shared behind-the-scenes footage recently, announcing that they were back and the new addition to the popular franchise is now in production.
It is 16 years since Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam was released, and, like so many other movies, is not living up to its name. The Grays will be back with their band Connect 3 as they lose their opening act for a reunion tour and naturally think the best place to find a replacement is back at Camp Rock. Camp Rock 3 will feature a whole new set of campers, including bold and determined Sage (Liamani Segura) and her easygoing brother Desi (Hudson tone), cello prodigy Rosie (LumiPollack), drummer with his own beat Cliff (Casey Trotter), choreo queen Callie (Brooklynn Pitts), intimidating influencer Madison (Ava Jean) and camp bad boy Fletch (Malachi Barton).
While the return to Camp Rock is a full-circle moment for the trio, Nick Jonas’ new movie with Fleder is clearly not going to appeal to the same audience. However, it could be a movie that continues to take the actor away from the family-friendly movies of his past and build up a more mature resume for the future. Also on his upcoming slate is playing KISS frontman Paul Stanley in the band biopic Shout It Out Loud.
